Chapter 2:

Unhinged laptops

Will you give this cute tsundere love?

In the modern world, there exist laptops. They are portable computers with foldable screens. Many people use them in their daily lives. When you primarily work on one for years, you grow accustomed to it. You enjoy the feel of the keys, the touch pad feels just right, maybe the keys even light up at night, making it easy to type. Sadly, they don’t last forever. The saddest sign that a laptop is nearing its end, is when it becomes unhinged.

Many laptops are built with a poor hinge system that can easily come undone. Sure, you can attempt to fix it, and be careful with it, however, all it takes is for you to open it too quickly and…

*Crunch*

“Well shit. Now my laptop’s barely staying on its hinges. The display’s acting funky too. *Sigh* Well at least it’s still somewhat functional unlike the last two laptops I busted.”

“What do ya mean Johan?” Nina asked.

“Oh, well the last laptop I busted also had a broken hinge. It still worked, however, that damn broken hinge somehow got soldered in place so it couldn’t move.”

“Is that why it broke?”

“No, I actually just spilled my drink on it,” I laughed.

“Oh, so you just were careless,” Nina glared.

“Yeah, though the 1st laptop I busted actually took me by surprise.”

“Hmm?”

“One day I just booted it up, and it wouldn’t boot up. I guess it somehow crashed. Sadly, I lost some old files I hadn’t been able to back up yet,” I sighed.

“You could lose files? I thought everything had a backup feature.”

“Not quite. It was also in an era before cloud became a thing. I could backup files to an external disk or drive, however, I was unable to do it all in time.”

“That sucks, were you OK?”

“I was bummed out, but now I’m more on top of those things.”

Sadly, this meant I had to get a new laptop.

                                                                         ...

"That's the new laptop? It looks nice," Nina complimented.

"Yeah, but sadly it lacks some of the quality of life features from the old one. The keys don't light up, making it really hard to use at night," I grumbled.

"Don't worry, I've got great night vision."

"I thought you were practically blind without your contacts."

"Yeah, but my eyesight's improved ever since I came here," Nina pouted.

I couldn't tell for sure if she really could see better, but I'd be happy for her if she could.

"Thanks for trying to cheer me up," I smiled as I patted her on the head.

"It's not like I was trying to," Nina blushed in embarrassment.

"Don't worry, I got the message loud in clear my cute tsundere," I chuckled.

"Ah mo! Let's watch a movie or something," Nina grumbled.

"Alright Nina," I smiled.

                                                                          [End]
