The Gamma beam wand is clearly better quality wand. But I think since it damages the internal cells, unless I hit the head shot, it would be less effective than rock bullet.
But the great thing is, it has very low activation time and cool down time. The range and efficiency are also very good.
Moreover, the error is only 3%. But the only problem is, I would have to hit a direct head shot, otherwise it may not be that useful.
My aim has definitely improved after fighting with bow and arrow but I still need to improve a lot to ensure my every shot counts.
I untie Ashwood from the parking spot of the shop and got on him. The town has horse parking system in front of every building.
Before leaving, I went to the guild to tell Tina san that I would be going out of town for a month and would not take any request. Since I have already completed my quota of 3 quest per month, I would not be expelled.
Tina san just nodded and I said my goodbye to her.
Since I told her that I would be returning, so probably that is why she was not that sad, is what I would like to think.
But would she even get sad if I left permanently?
Moving on, next I went to Bear den’s inn and told the same thing to the bear mother and daughter.
Milly was sad but after I promised her that I would buy her ice-cream for 1 whole week after returning, she somehow agreed but still was worried that I might not return.
Thank god I did not tell her that I was going on a dangerous mission otherwise she would have started crying while hugging me and refusing to let go.
This happened previously when I left the inn to live at the orphanage.
With all my preparations finished, I moved towards the exit while riding Ashwood.
Charlotte san has already given me a hand drawn map to various hideouts used by her family, so I would have to check them out one by one.
A few of them even lie in the Ghalia forest so I would have to go there too.
Considering that the start of the incident was stampede from Ghalia forest, it was possible that the vampires have their hideout there.
So I aimed to go to the hideouts in the Ghalia forest that were the nearest to the place where the fight took place and from there I plan to check them one by one.
Since my conceal works on anything I touch too, I hope I can go unnoticed even while riding Ashwood.
But it is not like I am invisible, so coming into plain sight of an enemy is definitely not good.
It would take me 2 days to reach the first hiding spot in Ghalia forest.
But there are a few hiding spot on my way there too, so it may be OK if I check them too as I go.
Maybe I might find something useful like a hint to the whereabouts of those vampires or something like a useful tool.
The nearest hiding spot is 4 hours away by a horse. It is located at the base of a small cliff.
After riding for about two hours I took a little break. I tied Ashwood to a tree where grass was growing and gave him water.
The merchant at the horse shop taught me the basics of taking care of a demon horse.
They have a lot of stamina and I am sure he was not tired yet but it was me who was tired as I was not used to riding a horse.
Ashwood is very loveable and his fur is very soft. I brush his fur with a brush that I had brought.
It neighed happily and stated licking my hand. Even though it’s a monster called demon horse, it’s so docile.
So there are some non-hostile monsters too huh. And here I was thinking that all monsters needed to be killed. But it’s not so.
After some rest I resumed the journey and reached the cliff in another 2 hours. As per map, there must be something like a cave at the base of the cliff, so let’s check carefully.
I left ashwood free and told him that he could run if he sees a monster.
The shopkeeper had already demonstrated me that he was intelligent enough to understand that and would return to me after some time, when he was not in danger anymore.
After leaving my demon horse, I started scanning the surroundings and the base of the cliff.
Soon I found a small entrance hidden with branches and went towards it to peek inside.
There does not seem to be anybody here. I took out my axe in order to cut the braches and make way.
Right now I am fully suited up in full body leather armor set and have a small shield at my back and a dagger in my right arm.
After cutting the branches, I entered the cave.
The inside was little dark but I don’t want to use a lamp and alert the enemy so I entered as it is.
My eyes adjusted to the darkness after some time but it was still very dark.
Maybe I might have something like night vision in my skills. Should I try it.
Its been a while since I discovered any new skill.
I chanted various skill names like ‘night vision’ , ‘eagle eyes’ ‘cat eyes’ etc and then when I said ‘spirit eyes’ something changed.
Looks like I found out another one just by luck.
My sight became filled with various colors that were continuously flowing.
There were all kinds of colors in there. But the problem with this was it made it even more difficult to see properly.
From what I guessed, the spirit eyes probably enable me to see the mana in air.
Earlier I could see mana only when it was being moved rapidly for activation but now its visible as it is.
And when I looked at myself, I found myself glowing in various colors too.
This might be useful in detecting enemy in dark at least, but its still difficult to see the path and such.
This is what it is. I should stop complaining and use what I have.
I soon got used to the colors and was able to see the path based on movement of mana.
Since the mana moved differently in air then in walls, I could somewhat see the outline of the path.
The other thing I noticed is that these sprit eyes do not consume my mana.
They are like an ability that can be turned on or off but did not consume anything just like my scan.
Somehow all the skills given by the goddess sama be it scan, conceal or spirit eyes, do not consume my internal mana.
I kept a dagger and a small shield in my hands and moved forward.
Soon the cave branched in two. Seems like this hideout is not that simple. Based on the mana movement, I decided to go right as it had strong movement.
After walking for some distance again, the path branched in three. This time I took the middle one.
After walking for some time I came upon an open space. The area had high ceiling unlike the caves and was as big as about 10 meter on each side.
The room itself was empty but there were four caves in each side. Since I came from one of them, I needed to explore the other three.
This cave system is quite desolate. There are spider webs here and there but apart from that there is nothing here.
I should not waste much time here. Maybe it was recently deserted after using, therefore there is no monster here, yet.
I hurriedly finished exploring the three caves too. Those had a small room at the end of them that seemed like private rooms for the people who might take refuge there.
I did not find anything in here. Not even single life except for spiders, which just ran away after seeing me.
They were just bigger versions of normal spiders and were not monsters.
I then went back and retraced the other paths. Most of them led to dead ends and one led to a passage to another open area with a similar structure.
Finishing my exploration, I came out of the cave.
Ashwood was still there chewing on the grass. He saw me and neighed happily and came towards me in fast strides. I stroked it and was ready to go again.
Next hideout was 2 hours from here. On the way I met some goblins, which started chasing us but they were no match for us, once I increased Ashwood’s speed.
I don’t want to waste my time on these stupid creatures. The hideout we are going to is an underground cave and had a hidden entrance according to Charlotte san’s map.
I reached the area but It was lunch time so I had some food and fed my demon horse some chickpea and water too.
After that I started exploring the area to see if I could find the entrance. The area is just at the edge of Ghalia forest so there is a decent tree cover here. The grass is also high.
I left Ashwood at a safe distance and moved forward.
I activated my spirit eyes and I could see the mana flow clearly again.
After exploring for about 15 minutes, I came across an area where mana flow was dense and moving quite haphazardly.
I followed the flow and the area I came across was covered in thick growth of tall and bushy forest, making it difficult for light to enter.
Now, this hideout was giving me vampire vibes unlike the last one.
That was not all. There were even goblins and some orcs in this area, as if guarding something.
They were armored and had clubs and bows and definitely did not seem like natural forest monsters.
This hideout will definitely not be empty. But first let’s clear the extras.
First I decided to cleared some goblins and orcs that were alone, using my dagger in stealth mode.
This was my first time killing an orc. I scanned it to see it’s stats.
