Chapter 7:

On Their Way

The Marionettist

After the following day; specifically, after school, Marek took her to her private apartment to pack for the "trip". The sun was already setting when they reached the apartment building. Patricia lived in a three-room apartment outside the center of Prague. Quite a nice neighborhood with a green park and shopping center near her place of living.

When they both entered the elevator, there was an awkward silence. Marek finally opened the elevator door and held it like a true gentleman so that Patricia could get out. She often felt uncomfortable around strangers. She was nervous and was trying to find the keys to the front door. She finally unlocked it and turned on the light.

Patricia showed Marek, where he could sit and wait while she finished packing. Before she started filling her traveling bag with the necessary clothes and necessities, she asked him if he would like something to eat or drink. Marek only politely asked for green tea.

She turned on the TV, placed the remote in front of him, smiled, and disappeared into her room. Marek just looked around the clean living room while sipping tea. Then his attention was caught by the television. His case appeared on the nightly TV news. A wrinkle formed on his forehead. This nightmare no longer haunted him only during his sleep.

After fifteen minutes, Patricia came out dragging a suitcase behind her. She was ready for a moment to exchange this huge city for a small spa town. Her studies could wait since she is the best in the year and Mr. Musil agreed and made an agreement with the school. She was even looking forward to it a little. Of course not for murder. Patricia adored mysteries and solving them.

She pushed Marek out of the apartment, into the elevator, almost forgetting to lock it behind her. Outside turned to the building for the last time and said goodbye to it for a longer period. They got into the car and went on an adventure. She didn't say a single word the whole way from Prague to Carlsbad.

Patricia was too engrossed in her thoughts regarding the case. She rummaged through the papers and tried to find something that others had missed. She carefully read every sentence and paragraph about those girls. She wanted to remember every detail so that she could tune in to the murderous monster.

Anna Maria Bosakova, the first victim, missing for two weeks, stabbed to death.
Dara Ondrushekova, the second victim, missing for a week, drowned by the killer.
Sarah Dankova, the third victim, has been missing for only two days. Hanged on a tree.
Margareta Hanzalova, the fourth victim, missing for three weeks, was shot in the head.
Katrina Janekova, the fifth victim, missing for two weeks, strangled.
Viktoria Samsonova, currently missing.

All the girls were abused and raped and each one of them was dressed like a doll...
