Chapter 43:

Sarah Foster

Hacker Class

Alden's eyes widened as his gaze landed on who the hand that was clasped around his forearm belonged to.

"Sarah Foster?" Alden's voice was filled with surprise. He realised something, in that instant. His secret, it had gotten out. The forbidden truth had been discovered and the cat was out of the bag.

His superior abilities, his amazing strength and his masterful handling of his puppets, Sarah Foster probably saw all of that now.

As Alden spoke, he was also anxiously waiting for what came next. What would Sarah Foster do? Would she report him to some higher authorities. Would she suspect him of hiding his real abilities? Would she know that he had another class is. A hacker class?

Sarah's piercing gaze tore away from Alden and was directed to Dillon. Dillon's eyes were wide, and his crazy hair covered his eyes partially. It was like he was stunned by what had occurred in the last 10 seconds.

"All of you..." Alden suddenly felt his legs growing weak, and the air from his lungs was being forced out, causing him to wheeze. A terrifying pressure had appeared within the cavern, and it was suffocating, with a weight so heavy it made Alden's legs feel like jelly.

"Hiding abilities? Fighting amongst yourselves?"

The pressure grew stronger and Alden tried to resist, with no avail. He fell into one knee. Prince was already on the floor, and Dillon had his hand against the ground as he tried to stop himself from falling.

"Explain now, what is going on?"

The pressure was released, and Alden felt himself take in deep heavy breaths. His body felt weak, and exhaustion pulled at his every limb.

Alden thought about what to say. Did he have to explain his abilities too? or did he just have to explain what had just occurred. Probably both. What would he tell the S-class Ranger?

The wrong words could have some severe consequences.

Before Alden could reply, however, Dillon spoke.

"I attacked them," He said, owning up. Surprise flashed across Alden and Prince's face. They'd expected that they'd have to have an hour long argument trying to get the truth across to Sarah. Dillon's next words however, made everything make more sense.

"I have a very dark ability, one that I've tried my utmost best to hide. That's why, when these two found me, I was so caught up with not letting out my secret that I mindlessly attacked them. Prince, and Alden, I am so sorry." Dillon hung his head, as if it were out of shame.

"More like out of shamelessness," Alden thought to himself. A few minutes ago, that guy was trying to turn Alden and Prince into his puppets.

"Is this true, Cele, Hall?" Sarah asked, turning to face the two of them. Her cold gaze stared deep into their soul, almost threateningly, as if daring them to try and lie so they could find out the consequences of doing such.

Alden sighed, Prince had his gaze on Alden and was probably unsure about whether he should talk or not. After all, if he spoke he could let loose a secret or two of Alden.

"I don't know about his side of the story but we were defending ourselves," Alden said plainly, his gaze defiantly staring back at Sarah. Alden was still angry after Sarah Foster had forced him into kneeling without even touching him.

Sarah Foster nodded, and turned away.

"Your secret abilities, I don't know why you're hiding it or what your abilities are..." She began walking away."And neither do I care."

She stopped, and threw a glance behind her shoulder, her eye on the three boys.

"Please do however understand, that if you come within my group and cause fights..."

Her eye narrowed, and her eye glowed.

"I will take action."

Alden swallowed a lump in his throat. Despite his hurt pride, Alden had to admit. Sarah Foster was scary.

...

Sarah Foster led them towards the rest of the group, who were hiding in one of the tunnels of the cave.

"The Boss is about one or two kilometres away, down this way," Sarah Foster explained to the group."Alden, you can stay behind the tank and try to avoid fighting. Since you've lost your puppet, you're useless to us."

Alden winced as he heard the captain's cold words. He could however, do nothing but nod.

"Now, let us go and clear this dungeon," Sarah Foster said, turning around to lead the group.

"The mist from earlier was caused by a poisonous potion made by a gas thrower, a very rarely found monster. It's gas attacks can cause hallucinations and that's what you just experienced. It's a good thing I was able to dispose of it quickly, otherwise we'd have suffered greater damage." Sarah explained as they went further into the dungeon. Soon, more Doom Lizards and Doom Bats appeared. Alden watched as the group fought, killing all of the monsters with ease.

Finally, after an hour long period of fighting, the group reached the dungeon boss's den.

Sarah turned to face the rest of the group.

"I'm asking you all permission, can I take care of this dungeon boss myself?"

The group members all nodded and said it was no problem, and Alden simply followed suit.

The captain nodded and turned away.

"Please do keep your distance," Sarah Foster said."Because things will get messy."
