“Hey Vittorio, can I ask you a question?” Luca asked as they sat down opposite their vampire companion. “How do I deal with my mortality?”

The vampire sucked in a sharp breath. “Are you hitting me with existentialism this early on in the night?!”

Luca blushed. “It’s just… I’m in love with all there ever was and all that’s yet to come. I’m not ready to let that go when the time comes.”

Vittorio’s gaze softened. “The finality of life allows you to appreciate the magnitude of history: the past, the future and the present. That’s the beauty of humans.”
