Chapter 4:

Fight or Flight…

A Universal Time: Redux

After a bit of work and smart moves, we were successful! We managed to knock them out, and surprisingly, Genny managed to use ice magic successfully. Didn’t expect that.

We open the gate to the main room. The gate’s doors open slowly and dramatically, like in movies. We begin to walk in, before Genny senses something.

“GET DOWN!” Genny yells, grabbing me and makes a run for the walls in the previous room.

I was confused. It took me a second for my brain to process that we were under gunfire. We see bullets spraying out everywhere. We duck behind the walls, panting heavily.

“We’ll find another way in later, but we need to get outta here first. Come on Emi!” Genny exclaims.

She grabs my arm and books it, all the way back to the house. I’m honestly surprised she had enough stamina for that.

Out of breath, Genny starts talking.

“I think we need a better plan Emi...”

Luckily, I grabbed my backpack before we left. I pull out my notebook and pen, ready to write anything down that could be useful.

“Any ideas?” I ask Genny.

“Not as of now, no.” Genny replies. She sits down at the table as we think for a moment. Silence fills the air, as if we were being maced by it.

“Yo, Emi. I got an idea. Write this down.”

Genny explains her plan to me as I scribble down some notes on what she said. She notices after she was done talking, I kept writing. She peeks over, noticing I was doodling. “My bad!” I apologized.

I was never really the best at paying attention.

Genny and I start walking back to the lair. We were fully knitted with better weapons for any situation they could throw at us. We put the plan into action.

We make it in and past all of the guards.

“Nice Emi, kick their ass!”

I use a left hook after the right, and continue that cycle like a load of laundry.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Or so I thought.

X-guards lie around us. Genny spits on one of them. “Miststück.”

Fun fact: Genny was actually part German! It comes from her father.

Gen’s always been so cool. She can speak English and German perfectly!

As for me though, I’m mainly American. Been born here, and my parents were too. I’ve got some slight french though! It runs in our DNA. Anyway, we wander around, trying to find Olivia.

We couldn’t have ever been prepared for what we were about to see next.
