Chapter 299:

All Arms and Legs Inside the Ride

Museworld

Chaos broke out in a moment, the robotics exploding like angry plastic parasites from the otaku’s bodies as they decided to rush their disagreed-with party. The one who grabbed Frankie had an especially devious design- while the wires that extended from his fingertips to ensnare her were a clear reference to a specific villain from Die Ranger Red Series, it made little sense to her why they should be selling such an obviously evil tool to children.

Tara promptly removed the boy- their silver hands making short work of his own ability, tossing him off before yelling at him, <Hey! Not here, you idiots! You’ll get us all killed!>

The ride was still climbing, but the drop was imminent. Katie would’ve been scared without the guys physically assaulting them, but with them here, Tala was right- this thrill ride had just become a legitimate danger.

She screamed for help, but the park was too loud and they were already too high up inside the dark interior section of the track for anyone to see them. To her surprise, a kick flew into her stomach- when she winced, looking upward after falling to the ground, she saw another boy- this one looking both scared and proud after hurting someone for the very first time- his trickery becoming obvious as the pain finally hit Katie, something far greater than any kid fanboy could muster.

<H-Hell yeah!> Hopping with his enhanced legs, the kicker laughed. He was having fun.

Genkei wasn’t a fighter and wasn’t supposed to like these people he’d come here with, but the dangerous situation drove him to action. His tall, broad build did make for an advantage in its own- he didn’t enjoy kicking the kicker, but something needed to be done, and putting that brat in the same fetal position Katie was now in seemed like the only option.

<I said cut it ou-!> Tara did their best to dissuade the attackers, but was cut off when the g-force came the first drop’s beginning hit her. Everyone screamed, even Nate, hiding at the far end of the ride- but nobody flew out of the ride, feeling a great pressure counteracting the drop and keeping them pinned to the ride.

It was hard to move like this- but one otaku, a female, was determined. Heading straight for the source of this madness, the fangirl slowly marched towards Frankie- every step heavy under the gravity-like counterweight field. Thankfully for the tourist it was easier to dodge in place than it was to move, with the attack she began after reaching her being weak and tired from her journey to her side of the cart, her punches missing the other girl and allowing her to push the young woman on her butt, which stung like hell when the field pulled it down harshly into the ride.

<Bitch…>

She was a tenacious fighter though, and came back with her trickery out and a vengeance. The knife extending from her palm was very real- and with Tala now focused on the two other boys on the ride, seemingly brothers who both shared the same iron-headed helmet trickery that was letting them take turns headbutting the vigilante unless she could restrain both, Frankie was left alone to deal with the slicer.

<I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!> She ranted, screeching like she’d completely lost it, remembering what the grabber told her the American had said.

“I-I didn’t mean it! I-It’s just an opinion!” Dodging as best as she could against the uncoordinated, opinionated fan, Frankie gave two excuses, both lost on the girl in the wide gap that was the language barrier, though she wouldn’t have listened even without it. She finally landed a blow on Frankie’s arm- the red blood flew flat down from the modular gravity field and splattered all over the place.

“Ow!”

The girl laughed.

<How do you like that, dumbass fake fan…>

If Frankie could understand her, she would’ve wondered how liking something more made you a fake fan of it, but much like the attacker herself, she wouldn’t have listened even if she could understand her, due in no short part to the wound on her forearm.

<Now die!> The blade-palmed girl swooped in for her final attack, aiming for the throat- only to be batted away by a pole broken off the ride’s fence.

“Katie!”

“Help me out here!” The swordswoman wielded her improvised weapon as professionally as she could with her limited experience, hoping her so-so swordplay would be enough to get them through this encounter.
