Chapter 14:

Saturn! What have you done?!

Saga of Saturn: Benevolent Processor

The ship sailed through the abyss, the rhythmic hum of the engines providing a backdrop to the quiet contemplation within. Saturn stood at the helm, her gaze fixed on the swirling expanse outside. As the ship smoothly cruised through the abyss, her thoughts swirled just as much.

Lazuli and Vladilena were now gone, their departure marked by heartfelt goodbyes and the bittersweet echo of a friendship formed. The trio, Saturn, Lumi, and Plutonia once again found themselves alone on the ship.

Saturn clutched the mysterious ring in her hand, its intricate design catching the faint light. A multitude of questions lingered, each one a puzzle piece in the grand tapestry of their adventures. Why had Aren ceased his relentless fight? What drove Polanoire to steal the crates?

In a moment of realization, Saturn knew she had to share her discoveries with the others. She approached Lumi and Plutonia, who lay comfortably across multiple chairs, peacefully sleeping. The warmth of the scene made her hesitate. She decided not to disturb their rest, leaving them to enjoy the wholesome moment.

Walking over to the steering wheel, Saturn contemplated the path ahead. The ship glided through the abyss, its destination uncertain. Saturn whispered to herself, "I guess Polanoire was pretty hectic. Might as well go back to Plansanturia and see how the rest are doing there. It's been a while, hihi."

The ship's course was quietly adjusted, steering away from the unpredictable rifts that punctuated the abyss. With the decision made to navigate the traditional way, the journey to the Capital planet promised hours of peace.

Saturn, having set the course, released her grip on the steering wheel. In the hushed ambiance of the command room, she made her way to the front. Seated and leaning against the giant windows, she gazed into the vastness beyond. Millions of stars and rocks floated peacefully without a goal. Just going wherever the current may take them.

A silver flying object in the distance immediately caught her attention. It seemed to be rapidly approaching their ship. She got off her butt and on all fours like a dog staring as it seemed to get larger and larger.

"Ooo a UFO? Nah, maybe a silver plate? No, it has some kind of fire behind it. O a flaming dinner plate!" Saturn continued her guesses unfazed.

Suddenly, the object fired a projectile directly at the ship. Saturn, a little slow to react, continued to stare at it like a curious child.

"EMERGENCY!" The urgency in the crew's response was palpable. Another crew member shouted, "ENEMY ROCKET COMING RIGHT AT US!" Saturn, widening her eyes, poked the window, attempting to point at the incoming threat. In her innocence, she asked, "Hey, is that the rocket thingy?"

Just as tension reached its peak, a blue electric bolt erupted from the ship, tearing the missile to bits before it could breach the ship's exterior. The emergency got called off but everyone remained on highest alert. Who would attack a processor’s ship? That question quickly arose and filled her mind. "Saturn!" Lumi and Plutonia had woken up from the ruckus and ran over to Saturn to find out what just happened. She sitting on the floor twisted towards them whilst stroking her chin looking intensively into her brain to find an idea. Soon enough she looked up at them and shrugged her shoulders without a clue.

"Saturn!" Lumi and Plutonia, now wide awake, rushed over to Saturn, who sat on the floor deep in thought. Stroking her chin, she gazed into the recesses of her mind, searching for a shred of an idea. Eventually, she looked up at them and shrugged her shoulders.

"You think it could have been Rudolf?" Plutonia queried.

"Polanoire is banned from any sort of offensive ships. Even flares are looked down upon in his hands. It must have been either another nation or some dumb criminal. But I doubt even the biggest idiot would fire upon a ship with a Processor national flag attached to it. Unless you don't even have one, Saturn?" Lumi pressed, seeking clarification.

Saturn, with an innocent gaze, looked up at Lumi. "I once had a really bad sniffle and ran out of paper, so..."

"How the bell does your nation even operate?" Lumi, unable to contain her frustration, exclaimed, her voice a mix of disbelief and exasperation.

"Nevermind. First of all, let's go to Plansanturia and get you the flags so we don't get mistaken for some trade ship. Then we will figure out what to do next since we now have a really angry Rudolf probably wanting our heads, and my crates are still gone," she explained, laying out a plan in the midst of uncertainty.

With the urgency addressed, Saturn took a moment to share her recent discovery. "Hey, now that you're all awake, I wanted to show you what I found when I got lost." She retrieved the ring she had found and handed it over to Lumi. Plutonia joined in, presenting the other ring. Lumi closely inspected the two, mumbling to herself as she examined each intricate detail.

"They're slightly different but the same build and idea," Lumi noted, engrossed in her analysis. "Oops." Lumi lightly jumped as the two rings fell from her hands and seemed to connect like two magnets on the floor.

"Look, they're glowing," Plutonia exclaimed, drawing everyone's attention. Kneeling down, they stared as the gold designs and letters pulsed with energy. Saturn picked them up, separating them with a slight force which dulled their glow. Putting them closer again, they immediately conjoined with a quiet clash of the two metals. She repeated the process. Then again, and again, and again and

"Oi ya brat stop ruining them you've seen enough haven't ya?"

"Hehe... sorry."

"You think there's more of them and if you connect them all something happens?" Plutonia asked.

Lumi responded with a shrug. "For now, let's just get to Plansanturia. Maybe Histoike will know something about these."

With a sense of purpose, Saturn rallied the entire crew within the command room. She called for an immediate rift to the home planets, and with this in a matter of seconds the ‘Jellyfish’ had arrived on the outskirts of Plansanturia and Saturns return home finally arrived after long days of adventuring. The ship descended steadily onto the landing platform outside the Dae Turris. Eager for a hero's welcome, Saturn sprinted to the ramp, anticipating cheers and flowers. However, as the ramp lowered and Saturn emerged with open arms, she was met with eerie silence and emptiness. The platform, devoid of the usual welcoming committee, seemed strangely deserted.

"I guess even your believers realized you're useless and left," remarked Lumi, her words cutting through the silence with cold-hearted precision.

"My believers are the most faithful in the entire universe. They'd never leave me. Something is just up," defended Saturn, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

The trio continued down the long aisle in silence. Suddenly, the grand doors swung open, revealing Histoike's furious countenance. Her little head flew right up to Saturn, turning red with anger, fists clenched.

"Sixth Generation Processor of Plansanturia, Saturn. I let you go alone for a small amount of time, and you immediately cause some kind of multi-nation problem."

"Histoike, it's been a long time hehe. How's it been-"

"Saturn, save your friendly talk for another day. Now, we have an issue that YOU will have to sort out because I cannot."

"Ehh, really now?"

"Saturn! Don't act all childish! What in the Elder creators' name were you doing in Polanoire in the first place? Then, what in the universe were you doing taking out an Elder being from the Garden of Spirits? Oh, and finally, my dear lady, and also, this one is for you too, Lumi from Lklandkeeling. Don't think Saturn is the only one getting the scolding. But you, Plutonia, however, are safe. You would never do anything stupid unless your big sister told you to."

"What is the last thing we did that's so bad?" Lumi asked, seeking clarification on the gravity of the situation.

"You beat up the damn Processor of Polanoire," Histoike retorted, her frustration evident.

"Oki doki, now to my defense, he attacked us first," Saturn responded, attempting to justify her actions.

"But going back to my previous question, why were you there in the first place? Do you know the amount of mess that puts us in? The motherboard of Polanoire started coming in, demanding reparations for all the damage caused to the Dae Turris, as well as to the entire planet, which apparently you set on fire? Not only that, but the nation of Reindan suddenly woke up from their little basement and is also complaining that you illegally entered their piece of the galaxy and then destroyed a ship that attempted to shoo you away. And then and and aaarrgghh. Saturn!" Histoike exclaimed, her frustration reaching a boiling point. The litany of accusations painted a vivid picture of the chaos that ensued in Saturn's wake.

"Okay, please excuse me, Saturn," Lumi spoke, shoving Saturn aside to get up close to Histoike. "We did not set the nation on fire. When we arrived, the whole place was already burning. The only thing we broke was maybe a couple of floors of the Dae Turris-"

"And a tip of a building," Saturn interjected.

"And a tip of a building," Lumi continued. "Then when we left, if that ship was trying to shoo us away, then I have no clue how 'shoo away' is the same as trying to blow up with a rocket."

Histoike sighed after Lumi's explanation, exhaustion evident on her entire body.

"Fine, I'll try to dispute the claims. Another sleepless week ahead of me, I guess. Also, Lumi, your little sister came by."

"What! You mean Miho?"

"Yes, she said there's some important message that only you can hear."

Lumi immediately rushed off inside, barely believing the news. The unexpected mention of her sister's visit sparked a sense of urgency, and Lumi wasted no time in seeking out the crucial message that awaited her.
