Technical Turmoil and Personal Reflections

When Jack saw the technician at the door, he was momentarily startled and immediately began questioning the technician about the visit – inquiring who sent him and how he knew the address.

Hi sir, Yesterday, you raised a ticket for a technician visit, and I’ve come here to fix it. 

But I didn’t receive any notification or update about the ticket. They mentioned that without order details, they’re unable to arrange the technician visit. ”

Your ticket has been assigned to me, and since I was near your location, I came to fix it. If you want, I can do it now, or I can let the backend team look into it and return later! 

Upon hearing this, Jack found himself in a dilemma. He felt uneasy about the situation, pausing for a moment to think.

What should I do? Should I let him repair my laptop, or should I wait for the backend team to update the ticket? 

Hmm!!! I don’t know what to do... Maybe I should wait for the team to update it because they haven’t found my order details, and something seems off...!! 

After reconsidering, he informed the technician to return later once the backend team had updated the ticket. As the technician left, Jack readied himself and headed to work. Despite trying to focus, he found himself distracted, acknowledging the situation for it is what it is.

During his afternoon tea break, Jack received a call regarding the ticket he raised. The person on the other end said,

Hello, sir. I’m calling about the technician visit. 

Hey hi, yeah! 

I’ve reviewed the details and wanted to inform you that due to a technical glitch, we’re unable to find your order details. However, I can arrange for a technician to fix your laptop. Can you let me know when I can arrange it? 

Okay, that’s strange! Were only my details affected?

A few other orders faced the same issue, but we received only your ticket. 

If there was a glitch, why weren’t we informed? Your team should have known earlier. Why didn’t your executive tell me? 

I apologize for that, sir. Since the glitch didn’t affect all orders and the status showed as delivered, we attempted to fix it at the earliest. Our executive team was unaware of this issue, we’ll ensure to keep you updated next time. 

Okay, make sure of that. Arrange the technician visit tomorrow after 5 p.m. 

After confirming, Jack returned to work after finishing his tea and sandwiches.

Next day evening around 5 p.m., Jack received a call from the technician and confirmed that he was at home. When he saw the same technician from yesterday, Jack was surprised.

Hello sir, I’m Mark, here to fix your laptop. I apologize for showing up yesterday without any prior notice. 

Jack welcomed the technician in, handed over his laptop, and explained the issues he faced. The technician began by installing and updating the system software and asked about Jack’s actions upon receiving the laptop.

Sir let me first install and update the system software before addressing other issues. 

Sure, sure 

After the software update and customization, Jack asked the technician to take a look at the camera as he saw himself on the screen. But the technician didn’t find any issue with the camera and while updating the laptop as well there was no glitch so he informed Jack that he could slide the bar to keep the camera off in case he feels insecure about the camera on.

Sir, I checked for viruses and unidentified software but found none. I have updated the system. Please check it, and if you find anything that needs fixing, I’ll be here. 

Jack checked all folders and drives but found no issues. He then asked the technician to install the ShadowQuest game and adjust the settings. The technician initially refused, stating that it wasn’t part of his job. However, upon Jack’s insistence, he agreed to install the game. While the technician installed the game, Jack quickly grabbed some snacks and made coffee for both of them. Jack also asked for the technician’s number, in case any issues arose and he needed to contact him.

After installing the game, Jack played it in front of the technician to test for any glitches, but everything worked smoothly. Satisfied, the technician left.

Jack changed into casual wear and glanced at the laptop, worrying that the same issue might reoccur. Feeling a bit anxious, he stepped out for a walk to clear his mind. During the stroll, he called his mom, and the conversation lasted for about 30 minutes to an hour, leaving him feeling much better. When he returned home, he intended to play the game, but upon noticing the mess, he got absorbed in cleaning. All his energy was drained in the housework. He refueled with a hearty meal and rested by sleeping.

Returning to the repetitive cycle of work and home, Jack eagerly awaited the weekend to play the game he had waited for so long. On Saturday, he woke up early, finished his chores, and delved into the game. Time flew by, and his hunger pangs at 4 p.m. interrupted his gaming session. Hastily, he put the laptop to sleep and made some sandwiches.

Today, even this boring sandwich tastes good. Even though I eat it very often…(chuckles) 

The doorbell rang! It was his parents checking up on him. His father, noticing the new laptop, asked for the password, discovering the game’s homepage.

If you have this much free time, why not pursue a career change and get a better job? How long do you plan to do this? uhh! 

After hearing this, Jack's sense of happiness vanished, replaced by a stark reality check. He acknowledged that his job wasn't leading him anywhere, a truth he couldn't deny despite his father's accurate assessment. At his mother's insistence, he went out to dinner with his parents. It wasn't the most enjoyable time, yet he didn't feel upset either. Returning home, his mind buzzed with an endless whirlwind of thoughts and conversations, leaving his sleep on hold.
