Chapter 4:

.

Love and Rivalry

As I was walking around, looking, I couldn't find the library. The hallways were empty and quiet, and the clock on my watch was ticking down. I suddenly realized I was already late for my class! I rushed into my classroom just in time to hear the teacher talking.

"I'm late!" I exclaimed, as the quiet hall echoed my footsteps.

“Room E-03”I Thought as I slid open the door to the classroom

*GASP!* I yelled as I suddenly saw a young man standing in front of me with a big smile. The room was filled with laughter. Everyone turned to look at me, and it took a few moments for the laughter to finally die down.

"There are many reasons why humans paint," the teacher in front of the class said"It can be a way to express ourselves, to communicate with others, or just to have fun and make something beautiful." He continued to speak, and the students were all listening quietly.

He glanced at me"You must be my new student?",he asked and gently smiled and everyone became quiet. "Layla?" he asked, looking right at me.

"You must be my new student, Layla?" he said. The laughter slowly faded away as I stood there, blushing with embarrassment.

“I’m glen, just glen your home room teacher”

“Greetings, my name is Layla jin “I said and gently bow my head (out of embarrassment)

"Moving on, why do humans paint?" The teacher commanded. He wanted me to answer his question.

"Reijimin?" I thought, looking around the room. When Reijimin stood up straight, my eyes were drawn to his answer.

"Humans paint so as to create beautiful and memorable pieces to be shared with others. Sometimes they paint just to create a world that they wish to live in." His answer felt deep and sincere, and the whole class was listening intently.

It's a way for us to make sense of the world around us—.atleast that was said in a book”

I noticed a vacant chair at the back of the room, and I slowly walked towards it. As I was about to sit down, Sir Glen called my name.

"Layla, what do you think is the reason?"

"Um...the reason humans create paintings..." I said hesitatingly, and then I gathered my thoughts, determined to answer the question to my best ability.

"The reason humans create paintings is in a sense we are attempting to be like God."

I could feel all the eyes on me, and I quickly realized that my answer wasn't good enough. I had no idea what to do in this situation, and a feeling of panic started to overtake me.

" God is a perfect being, and we are flawed and sinful" I said, my voice shaking slightly. "Therefore, we can never be like God. But when we paint, we create a world that is perfect in our own eyes— and in that way we become like God for a moment. “

After the moment of silence, everyone in the class burst into applause. "What a creative perspective," Sir Glen commented, with a smile.

"That was so cool," I heard one of my classmates say.

"As expected from Reijimin and the former talent from Coffevile," he added, and gently clapped his hands together.

"Everyone, you too must have a piece of art that inspires you, right?" he continues. If I had to choose just one picture that I find the most inspiring and beautiful, I would definitely choose Van Gogh's "Starry Night."That piece of art is just so remarkable and it always captures my imagination and inspires me to keep creating

."one of the girl in my class cheerfully responded I paused for a moment trying to reminisce an almost a forgotten memory

"one piece of art that I find the most inspiring and beautiful... "I whispered

~Flashback(10 years ago)

It was a windy afternoon. The sky is dark cloudy and I can smell the scent of the cold air.

"RAY!! "I called my friend as I run towards him. He just smiled at me and hand me a cone of ice cream “I can see your panties

"He said as he walked along with me . I blushed in embarrassment and was about to hit him when I noticed a group in people gathering around a beautiful 4 storey building from afar I saw that place

"What's that ray? "I Asked as I pointed it out" Oh it was the commemo—" before ray could finish what he was about to say I run towards the place"Where are you going! "He yelled and runs after me. I stopped my track and pointed it out

"Can we visit this art gallery! "The place that captivate my attention even from afar....

"Reizen art gallery”

What I felt when I first saw gallery.. even tho I couldn't express my feelings with words accurately at that time it was .... Majestic I was so lost with my thoughts I ended up losing sight on ray

"Ray? "I called him out but I can't find him anywhere

I was walking through the museum, looking for the special painting that I had heard about. As I came upon a room that had a huge painting hanging on the wall, it was absolutely stunning! It was an angel tied with chains, holding a beautiful red rose in her hand, and Her eyes flooded with tears that streamed down her cheeks but she couldn't express her emotions.I was stunned by the detail of the painting, particularly her expression and how the chains seemed to wrap around her body.

"its beautiful …”I whispered

I was so blown away with the beauty of the painting that I didn't immediately notice anyone else in the room apart from me. But then I realized someone else was standing right next to me, also staring at the painting. I turned around to see a boy staring at the painting, and he was thinking deeply about something.

Can we really label something as beautiful or not?”ahe asked coldly

I stared at him carefully… I'm not sure what he was looking for. If I had to guess, maybe he was trying to figure out what beauty really was?

“I don’t know “I shortly responded

He gently giggled “what to you is the most beautiful thing on Earth?

That’s too difficult for a six year old me which I wasn't sure I could give a definite answer. But then I pointed to the painting in front of me, which was so heartbreakingly beautiful.

"That one?" he asked. I nodded, barely able to manage a reply.

"I dream to paint the most beautiful thing on Earth," he said softly, still gazing at the painting. I stared at him

"But beauty… does it even exist?" he murmured, and at that moment I couldn't quite answer him.

He softly gazed at me and gently smiled. It was as if he had noticed that I had been staring at him for quite some time, and I quickly looked away out of shyness. Before I could even register what was happening, he had already walked away, and I was left behind with my thoughts.— wanting to know more about the artist who had created it.

That's when I noticed a signatures at the bottom left corner

"Gerald reizen "

"Gerald reizen"I whispered."

"Layla! "Rays voice echoes through on the hallway

"Ray! "I yelled back and run towards him standing near a crowd

“Thank you everyone who came to commemorate my father Harold reizen "it was the boy from earlier

"I would say that our father was an amazing artist and an amazing person. He was an inspiration to me and many others, and I will always be grateful for his example and the lessons that he taught me. His death was a great loss, but his legacy will live on through his art and the many people that he inspired.

Thank you to everyone who came to pay their respects, and know that my father would be honored by your presence. I am grateful for your kindness and for your support during this commemorate

"On behalf of him, i, Gerald reizen thank you"his graceful bowed was followed by an applause

End of flash back~
