Chapter 7:

annonymous letter

Love and Rivalry

The room was bathed in a faint light from the moonlight that beamed in. I had let exhaustion take over my body, and I began zoning out, and started drifting off to sleep.

But the gentle sound of a violin playing jolted me awake. "What is this?" I muttered.

" Chopin? On violin? "I asked confusedly " I got out of bed following where the music is comings from when I noticed a paper folded in the balcony balustrade To my surprise, I found a folded paper there, addressed to me.

It was a beautiful scented paper.

I was taken away by the scent that wafted from its folds,

.Curious what's written on the letter I sat down on the floor and read it's content

××

I wonder if that glowing world above is as beautiful as it is

The fact that such a beautiful light lies afloat in pitch darkness

Just as it be,will I ever be able to get there?

Can we gaze up at the sky this night?

"I will be waiting for you in the school passageway

-gabriel

in the middle of the night?

The content of the letter was so poetic and mysterious…. He asked if we could gaze up at the sky together on this night?

As I was reading the letter, I couldn't help but wonder why Gabriel decided to suddenly talk to me. Was there something going on that I wasn't aware of?

Also, the music stopped and I looked around, hoping to see someone but there was no one around. I started to become suspicious whether this was all an elaborate prank or the letter really came from the guy himself.

With my curiosity piqued, I quickly grabbed my sweater and quietly left the room, doing my best not to wake up Claudette along the way.

I ended up in the botanical garden, where there were many trees and beautiful blooming flowers, everywhere.

I raised my eyes to the starry sky and closed them, breathing in the slight fragrance of flowers in the air

"So it really isn't a dream," I thought. "I am indeed here at the middle of the night...at the music school I have always admired."

I proceeded to make my way to the school's passageway, where Gabriel allegedly promised to meet me.

Unlike how the school building was during the day,at night it was dark and no one was around .it felt very creepy

It was dark, and I could barely make out my surroundings. I felt quite vulnerable and slightly spooked, as I made my way up the stairs, relying on the dim moonlight coming through the windows. But then—

"What are you doing thereI was startled by the sudden voice that came out of the darkness. It felt like someone was watching me from the shadows.

"Ah", a voice replied, and I froze in place. "You are the new provisional student, correct?"r.....

"Y-yes, it's me," I nodded and sighed, wishing he hadn't added "provisional" in there. It made me feel like I was some sort of temporary student instead of a full member of the community.

What exactly are you doing here? “it is already long past curfew" he added

caught off guard by his sharp gaze and tone. I quickly thought of an excuse, and tried to sound as convincing as possible.

"Well..." I began, trying to come up with a plausible excuse sbout me intruding the school building in the middle of the night

"I forgot my textbook," I said, speaking in a dead-serious tone.

"What?"sir glenn seemed quite flabbergasted, which made me quite nervous.

"Yeah, I didn't join any classes this afternoon"

..

"Well, why did you leave your textbook?" he asked.

"I didn't realize I didn't bring it with me," I replied quickly.

"Why didn't you realize it?" he countered

“Because I was careless”

"That lack of thought will have serious affect on your grades," he said firmly, and I felt my panic increase as we talked. "You don't want to lose your scholarship and keep that in mind. You're just a provisional student, Layla," he continued.

"Yes, sir," I responded quickly, realizing that whatever he would say next would probably be some kind of never ending ----

"You must learn that ...@##$3#¢¥€¢✓`€✓¢[¢✓jshdajkhdkahdkahfa”

"He is far scarier than my mom," I muttered to myself, as Glenn continued his lengthy lecture without letting me get a single word in.

:”ill walk you back to where you belong “he said and staring walking. I immediately followed him

It was awkward being escorted back to my dorm by Glen, as none of us broke the silence.

When I reached the doorm.

. I waved back as I watched him

My mind was filled with thoughts “I will be waiting for you in the school passageway,"

The letter suddenly recalled in my mind, and a wave of disappointment washed over me as I realized that Gabriel never showed. It was such an odd situation—a letter inviting me to a secret midnight meeting and then not showing up? I couldn't make sense of it.

I waited for him all night and he never showed up.!!!!

"Was it a part of his little prank?" I wondered to myself,

It seemed that a sudden change of heart was all I could conclude.

I wasn't able to sleep.,,,,

"I was so sleepy and wasn't able to sleep because of what happened last night." I thought to myself, feeling like an idiot.

"You're just figuring that out?" I heard a familiar voice, and looked up to see who it was. It was Reiji, of course!

Reiji was leaning against the door on our classroom, apparently waiting for someone. "I knew you'd be here," she chuckled as she looked at me, and added, "There's no class today—everyone is heading to the auditorium."

“Reiji?youre here?”

There’s

"I'm late because of you," she added, and took my hand, running through the hallway. The corridor was empty except for the two of us, but she didn't seem to mind my struggle to keep up with her, and kept rushing ahead.

"I-I'm sorry, Reiji..." I mumbled, trying to catch my breath and keep pace. "But you really didn't have to wait for me."

"You've been absent the whole afternoon, so of course you have no idea about the announcement," she said calmly, still pulling me fast as we continued running.

"Here are a few words from our dear school headmistress lady gabriela "

My eyes widened in shock as we reached the door at the end of the hallway. Reiji barged in, pulling me behind her into the auditorium and towards the podium where a woman spoke and everyone clapped their hands.

"Greetings, Saint Palantine Academy Music and Art Department students." The headmistress smiled warmly as she greeted everyone with a speech that combined both grace and elegance.

"As we are greeted by the shining rays of the spring sun and the breathtaking beauty of its blooming flowers, it is on this delightful spring day that we have come together to carry out the entrance ceremony of our school's annual art competition."

"lets hear from our supreme student government adviser miss cathy " said added, as the girl behind her smiled and slightly bow her head as she take over the podium

"why reiji taking me with her?"i thought as we walked heading almost near at the stage

"Good afternoon everyone," the teacher said as she stood at the podium and looked around the auditorium. "This is from the committee of announcement," she continued, "there are some things you should know regarding this year's art competition which will be held in the school."

"Today, we open submissions for our school-wide art competition for the finest artwork the school has to offer, and the winning entry will be featured in a special exhibit during the end of year celebrations. "

"I will now announce the partial participants of the competition," she added, and the audience went quiet as they eagerly waited for her to pronounce the names of the participants.

To begin with......
