Chapter 50:

Lucid Battle

Face of Eternity : Principality of Dreams

Belphegor had just transformed into a more powerful form. He didn’t just look more demonic, my sensors were reading his power had increased significantly as well.

Unlike him though, I was giving myself a little downgrade.

-Combat Systems shutting down-

With that mode turned off, my original demeanor was beginning to return. I instantly felt a rush in my head as I began to feel more childlike again.

“Yalda!” Uncle announced my name in shock. “What are you doing?!”

“I don’t think we’ll win if I keep going like this!” I said to him.

When I activate my combat mode, all of my brain power was dedicated to fighting. I’m able to process information at incredible speeds and react just as fast. But you know what it lacks?

I lose a lot of my creativity.

Not that I can’t be creative in how I fight, but I’m not childish or silly. My mind is more like an adult, completely focused on the most logical way to win. And in that state of mind I concluded that powering down those systems would be the only way to win.

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing." I turned back to the Lord Sleepy Eyes. “Is this what you wanted?”

He smirked, giving me the answer I hoped for.

This was the real me. The seven year old in all her glory. The one who played way too many video games and wanted to keep demons out of her world. He wasn’t looking to do battle with any old adult, because they didn’t think the way I would. They would bore him to tears.

On the contrary, I’d probably be a lot more fun than that. With my creativity, I could give him a run for his money. This battle would be about who could manipulate a lucid dream the best. I had a feeling this was going to be the wackiest. fight I ever have.

“I'll beat you at your own game!” I shouted, trying to look as intimidating as any kid could.

“Make this interesting, and you’ll have my full attention.”

Within the span of a blink, he was in front of me. His speed was incredible!

But in this place of make-believe, I could be just as fast! I slipped away from his swiping claws.

SHWOOOM!

A shockwave flashed out form his raking claws, blasting away chunks of land behind us. I was worried that it might hit the others, since we came from that direction. But it seemed that Uncle was dealing with that.

Belphegor grabbed me and slammed me into the ground! Darn it! I was distracted!

While I was sitting in the midst of a crater, he shot rays of dark energy at me and pelted me with awful pain!

I couldn’t worry about my friends right now. My attention had to stay on the fight I was in.

The more his attacks made contact, the more I was feeling really drained. His attack must have been sapping my strength.

Remembering how humanity was at stake here managed to forcibly subside that drowsiness.

My wings flared out and made enough of a gust to send me flying. Once I hit the clouds, I cupped my hands, letting solar energy gather up between them.

“Let there be light!”

I pulled my cupped hands apart and shot an orb of stardust into the sky. It burst open and the energy inside expanded into a sun like creation. All this was powered by the endless possibilities of a dream. The fake sun was bright enough to completely destroy all that black light that prevented stardust from forming.

Belphegor was shocked, but his previous smirk turned to an arrogant smile.

Even though I was giving myself an advantage, he still had the confidence to pull off his own tricks.

With the snap of his fingers, the sky beyond the sun turned black as night. The fake sun sat in the midst of a pitch black sky.

“Now it’s an even fight,” he announced.

I zipped back down toward him and stabbed down with my spear. His shields raised up and caught my attack.

The mirror effect kicked in, but with my will I forced the reflecting damage back at him.

He was pushed back, but his claws attacked. I was small enough to dodge, but an onslaught of swipes kept me on my toes.

I spawned a stardust shield, catching his claws and making them shatter. The shockwave also broke the shield.

A powerful aura surrounded him. His speed and strength grew tenfold. I couldn’t match that! For a while I just ended up being a punching bag, tossed around like a ragdoll. The pain was excruciating.

I needed to evolve, like he did! It was the only way to keep up.

“Time to go super angel!

I let out a loud, drawn out scream, and suddenly my hair started to glow a sparkly silver colour, waving gracefully in the wind. This transformation increased my power hundreds fold.

Speed and strength weren’t an issue anymore. I was matching pound for pound everything he was throwing at me, maybe even going further beyond!

Now the fight really kicked off! Punches went flying, enough to cause big distortions in the air.

A scepter like weapon spawned in his hands, and he swung it like a baseball bat!

Like shooting stars, we took our battle across the sky, lighting up portions with mind bending magic and martial arts. This must have looked like fireworks to anyone watching from below.

Both our palms stretched out. Waves of stardust radiated out of my hand, and darkness from his, smothering the two of us in our own bane.

Eventually we were both back on the ground. The demon lord and I rose back up and stared each other down, like one of those western movies.

Rocky desert sands blew across a dusty trail. Wooden homes were sealed tight, knowing high noon was upon them. The theme of the land must have altered to match the vibe.

I tipped my hat, which had suddenly appeared on my head, then I put a piece of straw in my mouth.

“This town ain’t big enough for the two of us, Lord Sleepy Eyes.” I water gun six-shooter appeared at my side. “Better say yer’ prayers, cause I'll be sendin' ya to the Big Man in the sky!.”

Belphegor now donned the edgy garb of an outlaw. His evolved demonic features enhanced his evil presence exponentially.

“I will make everyone in this town take their final rest. That includes you, sheriff. And soon the whole world will live in my dream forever.”

He knew how to play along. If he wasn’t evil, he might be a good playmate at the park.

Two fifty-cal pistols appeared in his hands and he fired them!

BANG BANG BANG!

Rapidly they fired! I took evasive maneuvers and raised my own pistol at him!

SQUIRT!

A trail of sparkling holy water shot his way, but he figured he could dodge.

“My gun’s heat seeking!” I shouted.

“Hmm?!”

The water stream suddenly grew the face of a snake, gliding toward him unrelentingly. He had to fly and jump behind buildings to find cover.

BANG!

He fired a bullet at the water and it dispersed.

“My bullets counter heat seeking water.”

"What the!? No fair!"

He was clever, but I wasn't finished yet.

A unicorn galloped in from the wilderness, letting me sit on top of her back. Her sharp horn was glowing with rainbow power beyond any normal rainbow!

“Let’s go get em’. Super Uni the Unicorn, away!”

Uni let out a loud neigh and raced in. I raised my spear.

“Lassus, to me!” Belphegor threw out his arm and commanded a pitch black horse to his side. He mounted his steed and charged forward, readying a spear of his own.

The two of us had weapons drawn, ready to poke each other as we passed. Steel padded armour spawned over the two of us, like we were real knights in a joisting match.

Second by second we closed the distance. A trail of rainbows followed my Super Uni, and shadows the dark steed Lassus.

Our joisting weapons finally clashed, nailing right into both our chests and sending us off our mounts. We caught ourselves mid air using our wings.

“Eat the power of a million billion suns!” I shouted.

Bright rays of sparkles blasted down from the fake sun.

“How about a billion trillion shadows!” Belphegor actually spoke from his mouth!

Rain like razor blades of black glass pelted me, but I wasn’t finished!

“Oh yeah?! I have the power of a trillion trillion zillion suns in me!” My body was glowing with a heavenly aura. Stars appeared and orbited my body like a galactic cloud. “You can’t beat that!”

“I have a trillion trillion zillion and one more darkness!” his body swelled up with red energy. A halo of black bones spiraled behind his head.

That didn't even make any sense!

“My power is infinity!”

I pulled the best card I had. Nobody can beat infinity.

“I’m infinity times ten,” he challenged me further.

The ground below us was disappearing. Our auras were so strong that it was eating away at all of reality.

At this point, we were just glowing bodies of light and dark. Our forms were transcending the material plain and becoming godlike.

“I’m infinity times infinity, plus infinity infinities!” I declared.

Um…I know this was a dream and all, but I think my power was going a little too beyond the beyond, so to speak.

It was getting to the point that my existence was literally a paradox. Everything was just a big white room with me gliding down to the center. This was freaky. Belphegor appeared here too. We both just sat down and looked at each other.

“Congratulations, we’ve transcended the physical universe,” he said.

"Oh...well...what do we do now?"

We really can't go any further with this battle. Like, how do you go further then transcending the universe? We’re just so ridiculously powerful that nothing can comprehend us. I mean, this was still just a dream, so once it ends it's back to reality, but still. What happens next?
