Chapter 3

 Amilda's father would not hear his daughter out as he felt she was lying.

"I won't accept that, you should go pack your load." He said as he left Amilda.

"You have a few minutes to get your things." He said to her. "I won't accept you lying."

He shook his head and ordered his daughter to get her load telling her not to try anything stupid.

"If you dare try anything stupid, I won't tolerate that. If you dare lock yourself in the room, I will come remove the lock from the door.

Amilda shook her head weeping and ran into her room to get her load.

Few minutes later, she walked out of the room with her load.

She used her hands to wipe off her tears.

Her mother walked up to her and embraced her.

"You are my only child and I want you to take care of yourself..." Her mother was saying when her father walked in.

"Sumitra, what are you doing?, Are you trying to instigate my daughter against me or my sister?" Her father asked her mother who looked at him shocked.

"What are you saying Yash?, How can I do that?" She asked and he smiled shaking his head.

"I actually asked you a question and didn't tell you that you are instigating my daughter." He said.

Amilda looked at him then to her mother.

"I am ready." She said and her father nodded his head.

Tears fell off her mother's eyes as she watched her daughter go.

Amilda followed her father for a few minutes then turned back.

She looked at her mother and waved her.

She turned to her father and following him.

After some hours, they got to Muni's house and Yash knocked.

Aayan opened the door and smiled on seeing Amilda but got sad thinking that Amilda had already gotten pregnant for him without completing her education.

"Where is my sister?" Yash asked Aayan who stared at Amilda.

Aayan cleared his face and looked at Yash.

"You may come in while I go to call sister in law." He said moving aside for them to come in.

They both went to sit on a chair while Aayan went to call Muni.

"Muni!" He called as he went to meet his sister in law.

Minutes later, he came to meet them with Muni who was happy to meet her brother.

She smiled talking to her brother while Amilda scoffed as she remembered all what she heard her aunt say to her mother the day before.

"Alright I will be going." Her father said some hours later and walked out of the house leaving Amilda.

Amilda stared at her father as he left. "What would you like to have?" Muni asked Amilda who looked at her angrily.

"Hey calm down. I know you heard what I said to your mother so I promise you that this is going to be my last kind act to you." Muni said and Amilda began to shiver.

Muni got up and went in.

She came out with some food which she gave to Amilda to eat.

Aayan watched with tears in his eyes knowing what Muni meant by last act of kindness. He could not bear seeing the girl he loved become a maid in the house.

He thought of his brother who had gone out of the country promising to come back by the end of the year.

"What is he going to do when he discovers that his wife forced me into having an illicit affair with her and wants to take advantage of her niece?" He asked himself.

He still remembers nineteen years ago when his brother married Muni, he (Aayan) was still young.

He disapproved his brother getting married to her but he was told that he is still little. His brother was thirty five then while Muni was twenty seven then.

He also remembered how Muni had her first and second miscarriage and he promised his brother to take care of her whenever he goes on a trip.

He remembered how Muni started having illicit sex with him which he disapproved of but Muni used his and his brother's weak point against him.

Muni forced Amilda to finish the food and she could only cry.

She was offered some water to drink to step down what she had eaten and was sent to her room.

She got to her room and laid on the bed.

Tears flowed down her eyes as she thought of what her aunt said to her mother and what her mother told her.

"I can't suffer all because of a competition" She said and heard her aunt clap her hand.

"Yes you can't suffer because of that." Muni said and Amilda looked at her.

"Aunt!" She exclaimed and Muni nodded her head.

"I am sure your mother told you that but I never liked her. I just pitied the poor girl and didn't like the fact that my brother wanted to marry her so I used that as my excuse when it happened." Muni said.

"I am still your niece." Amilda said.

"Yes you are and that is the reason I will like you to choose how miserable you want to live here." Muni said shocking Amilda.

"Aunt!" Amilda shouted.

"You can be working for me in the house or watching over my gate. If you work for me in the house, you will be up early by 4am then eat at any time but you must do my works. If you watch over my gate, you will get up early by 5am then freshen up and eat, you will have to go out to the gate, watch over it till 6pm when you will come in to eat your last meal for the day. " She said and Amilda looked at her as she was scared to reply her.

She continued, " I will love to choose for you since you are my niece. You will have to work for me till my husband comes." She said and touched Amilda's leg before standing.

"Why is life so cruel to me?" Amilda asked herself weeping.

She ran to the door to lock it and saw that the lock has been removed.

She shut the door slightly and walked to the bed. She wept so bad and rigorously shock her head as she continued weeping.

She paused for some minutes and looked up.

"I wish I was never birthed into this world." She said to herself.

"Shhh!" She heard someone.

She turned to see who it is and saw Aayan.

"Saab Avil." She said.

She laid on her bed and opened her legs to show that she is ready.

She was tired fighting back with no one to listen to her.

Aayan shock his head and sat her up.

He sits down beside her and looked into her eyes.

"I love you and will like to share my story with you." He said and cleared his throat.

He told her about how he loved his elder brother who is over twenty years older than him. He told her about how he pleaded with his brother not to marry Muni as he didn't like her. He told her about how his brother usually travel on a business trip leaving him and Muni alone since their parents were no more and how Muni had taken advantage of it. He told her of how they started having illicit sex.

This really got Amilda upset.

"You are lying. Please leave." Amilda said pushing Aayan away.

Aayan walked into his room with a heavy heart.

He laid his head to sleep as he remembered what Muni had decided for Amilda.

"I will also wake by 4am so as to help her out." He said as he slept.

The next day, Amilda woke up by 4am and had a quick bath before rushing out of the room in order to get what to do from her aunt.

"Please do stop it. I don't like it. You are my brother's wife." Amilda heard as she passed Aayan room.

She walked back and looked into the room.

She saw her aunt naked trying to sleep on Aayan.

"If you can love Amilda, why not me?" She asked.

Mistakenly, Amilda allowed the vase beside Aayan room to fall.

Seeing this, she was about to run but was held back by her aunt.

"What do you think you are doing ?" Muni asked.

I was going to your room. " Amilda said.

" Liar! " Muni said and raised her hand to slap her.

Aayan was quick to hold her hand.

He pulled Amilda close to himself.

"You dare not slap her." He said.

"Fighting for your lover." Muni said laughing and walked back to the room.

She picked her clothes and walked off to her room.

Amilda felt happy. She stared at Aayan and hugged him.

Aayan smiled as he hugged her back and Amilda felt peace in his hands.
