Chapter 10:

The voice of the ocean. [Arc 1 end]

The Lifeless Supermoon: A fateful encounter

As soon as he was about to remember what he did to her in the past, he decided to shrug it off.

"I did that to her. I don't deserve to be forgiven.", he remembered how she acted when she saw her.

"I guess that was to be expected from her. After all, I was the one responsible for her changing schools..."

His eyes went dark, as if his redemption arc stood still on a canon event and wont move until it's completed. But he doesn't have the will nor the energy to comeplete it.

Kanako held Ayane's body, as her legs almost went paralysed, giving her support before sitting her to the only available seat that opened up.

"This was the worst possible outcome.", she murmured.

Kanako couldn't say a thing. He realised something that he tried not to realise. That is her scar was deep enough to justify her ending herself was recognised in Kanako's eyes. But he wont let it happen. But before that, he came up with a plan.

"Ayane."

She looked up to him,"What?"

"Do you, want to go on a date with me?"

"...Huh?!"

He mood soon became from a depressed to a flustered state. Her face went red, not knowing how to reply. She covered her face with her hand, hiding her emotions.

"Hey, if you do that, I won't be able to know your reply."

She nodded her head, peeking through the gaps of her hands.

"Well then, its decided, but when?"

"H-how am I supposed to know? You invited me."

"Well thats true... How about next weekend?"

"Sounds about right."

And with that, an ordinary, isolated weekend of hers became a date that she would cherish and enjoy.

The train slowed down to their station. It was a wonderful day, the skies were clear and a refreshing breeze was going by. The sun's anger went down and was hidden behind the clouds of the afternoon.

"I can go home from here."

"Is that so? Well okay then."

Kanako and Ayane parted ways as they went to the opposite direction. Soon her lively heart became lifeless again, going again to its usual state. But it was still alive thanks to the promise of Kanako.

"Ouch."

That hurted. Being careful of her surroundings, she lifted her sleeve to check upon the injury inflicted upon her. It was still in a pretty bad shape.

Diverting her concentration, she looked at the still water, waving slowly under the sky.

"If I had died the oher day, I would have been washed away by this wavering sea."

She wanted the calmness of the ocean.

"How do you stay so calm? Despite having such a deep and dark mind? Many people die because of you, many people live because of you, yet if anyone would want to go deeper to understand you, your true darkness is seen. You remain ever mysterious the more people see you.", she asked to the ocean, who had no speech.

But she seemingly heard the answer,

"Because the earth holds me dear, the moon loves me and I am still needed."

The ocean had a personality that she didn't think of.

"I see."
