Chapter 0:

Tiron

Rueda the Witch

I stumbled upon this city called Tiron on my way to the capital Gwyn. Honestly, it's just because I'm exhausted from flying, and now I want to get a place to stay for a few nights and then go on with my trip.

Tiron, for a city that is quite far away from the capital, is quite a bustling city with many people around doing activities despite now it's almost evening, even the market is still open. I'll check it tomorrow, I really need to rest right now.

Let me ask the locals about nearby inns, or I just go to the market and ask the people there and buy something while at it.

There is a bookstore run by an old woman, I come there and look around for some interesting books while she just stares at me dead.

Honestly, none of the books catch my attention, all of them are generic stuff, and some even have huge inaccuracies that can be quite dangerous. Also, why are there so many words just to explain simple things like how to fly, in every chapter, there is a long disclaimer saying you need an adult to see you, and blablabla.

I feel bad for not buying anything, I'll get this recipe book, ask her about inns nearby, and then sleep.

"I'll get this one," I said while putting the book on the table, "and may I ask something?"

"What can I help you?"

"Do you know if there are any inns nearby?"

"Go left from here, and you'll see an inn just outside the market." She said.

"Thank you."

"Thank you for your purchase."

She just gives me dead emotion the entire time I'm there, that's not very good for someone running a shop.

Hopefully, there is an empty room there.

As I walk to the inn, I also look around if there are any interesting items, but no, there is nothing. Also, is it just me or does everyone kinda look the same, and not like the usual "all something looks the same", they look different but the overall vibe is the same. It feels like the most generic outfit that anyone can wear in this day and age, in this part of the world.

I got to the inn, it also has the same feeling of, bland and generic. I only need to stay for one night, I'll just do my usual thing and not care about anything.

I come to the innkeeper, "I want to stay here for a night."

"That will be 50 coins, do you want dinner service for an additional 15 coins?"

"No, thank you." As I give 50 coins to her.

"Let me guide you to your room."

I follow her to the next floor, there are a few rooms here, at least 5 maybe? I unfortunately get the room at the corner, which sucks because I am quite far away from the exit.

She opens the room and then gives the key to me, "If there is anything you want, please call me. I am always available on the first floor."

"Thank you."

She left, and then I entered the room, closed the door, and lay on the bed staring at the ceiling. I look at my left and right, everything is so weirdly perfect.

Oh, I swear to god, Rueda, if you won't stop overthinking, you won't sleep and be dead.

I close my eyes and try to make my body as relaxed as possible until I can feel all my muscles twitching from exhaustion.

I am Rueda, a witch, wanderer, person thing, 24 years old, female.

I used to be a part of the military as a captain, but I quit after the war was over, I don't want to rot in the military complex, doing nothing or worse, being a trainer. And because of that, I decided to become a wanderer so as not to rot in one place forever.

Agh, I can't sleep for some reason, I'll go for a short walk. Somehow, the market is still open with a lot of people still there buying and selling stuff even though it's already 11 in the evening.

I smell something good, I follow the smell and land upon a food shop selling roasted meat on a stick thing, I don't know what it is but it looks good.

I bought one, the meat is tough as hell, but the overall taste is not bad, nothing special actually. I got smell-baited. God, that's horrible.

I don't know, this place feels soulless, doesn't feel like there is any human around here. Why am I thinking about this again, I really need to sleep.

I go back to my room and try to sleep for the entire night but I end up staring at the ceiling for hours before I can sleep.

I wake up in the middle of the day, with my body feeling like I'm 60, it's horrible. After eating breakfast and packing up my things, I immediately left the city, heading towards the capital.
