Chapter 51:

Chapter 51: Battle of Fate

Howl

As the two pushed off one another, Amber charged at Ferral, throwing several punches and kicks with high speed and force. He dodged and parried each attack, then countered with a left knee to her stomach followed by an elbow to the back of the neck. Amber broke free, spinning around to sock Ferral in the jaw and tried to impale his stomach with her claws. Ferral, grabbing her arm, pulling her forward for a headbutt then a kick against a building. He soon grabbed Amber by the hair and started repeatedly slamming her head against the building. She eventually elbowed Ferral in the stomach and roundhouse kicked him away.
The two took a breath before continuing their brawl. Both blocking and receiving blows from the other, it was hard for the others watching to know who had the edge. While Amber’s movements were swifter and less easier to dodge, Ferral’s had more force behind. He began purposely taking each hit, letting his rage cloud his fighting style. Amber grabbed one of Ferral's arms, twisting it and pushed kicked him to the ground. He jumped back onto his feet and charged forward, ducking one of Amber's punches and countering with a right jab to the gut. He then grabbed her head with both hands and slammed her face against his right knee. Quickly recovering, Amber threw a left cross to Ferral's ribs, then grabbed his left arm and threw him into the second floor of a two story house.
She jumped in after him, the two continuing inside of the home. Amber jumped onto Ferral, wrapping her legs around him as she punched his face repeatedly. He leaned backwards and threw himself forward, slamming Amber against the floor, it collapsing upon impact and the two fell to the first floor. Ferral rolled off of Amber and the two back up on their feet. They started to throw slashes at one another, Amber grazing Ferral's chest and Ferral grazing her stomach. Then Ferral tackled Amber and started running toward a wall until the two crashed into it. All the while Amber punching Ferral's back. The two landed outside of the house, Ferral tossing Amber to the side. She got up and the two stared each other down, trying to catch their breath. They started to walk in a circle, never taking an eye off the other.
A loud boom of thunder sounded across the sky and the two lunged at each other. Going back and forth trading blows, Ferral soon grabbed Amber's right leg, spun her around and threw her away. As chased after her, all the other experiments tried to follow but they were all too weak and injured to move. Leona cursed as two left the area, “You better win, idiot.”
Amber stopped herself by digging her claws into the ground right. Ferral found her, then leaped into the air ready with a kick, but once he threw it Amber caught his leg and was thrown to the ground. He got up with a snarl, trying to slash at Amber, continuing to let his anger blind him. Amber found an opening and cleaved Ferral's left arm off from the elbow down. He only grunted in surprise before grabbing the severed arm and swinging it around. Amber knocked it out of his other hand and proceeded to land a few blows on him before knocking him back. He rolled on the floor before popping back up and attempting another assault. Amber evaded and blocked each attack, Ferral tried to swing with his left arm but remembered it was gone. In his moment of realization, Amber nailed Ferral again in the ribs, then kicked him back into a small car. He stumbled as he regained his footing and in a moment of true blind rage, he launched forward ready to slash her without thinking.
As he mindlessly swiped at her, missed and in less of a split second was met the claws of her right hand slashing across his eyes. He screamed out in pain as he covered both his eyes, Amber took advantage of his disorientation to unleash a barrage of punches to his face, lacerated his back with both her claws, finally roundhouse kicking him into a no longer functioning water fountain. He laid on his back trying to regain focus, but was caught off guard when Amber landed over him, wrapping both hands around his throat. As she began to strangle him, he could barely see what was happening with his eyes covered in blood. He struggled and gasped, gripping her left arm with his right hand and once he was able to just barely see through his left eye, he looked around to find a way to knock her off. Then he noticed his legs were freely able to move and used that to kneed her in the crotch with all his force.
She groaned in pain as her grip loosened, then Ferral punched her in the face to knock her off. He rolled away and got up on his knees, gasping for air. He rubbed the blood off his eyes and tried to open them, only the left one being able to fully see. Now with the loss of his left arm and right eye, Ferral knew he needed to refocus and not let his anger take control. As the two got back up on their feet, Ferral took a deep breath and exhaled to calm down, then the two rushed at each other. Amber still had Ferral on the back foot, however he was still more durable than her. On top of that, one of her punches was the equivalent in strength to two of his. So for now, all Ferral could do was endure each strike as he tried to regain control and rethink his fighting style. He did manage to get a solid kick to her ribs and knock her back, using that to run off and hop atop the roof of a building.
Amber followed him, and the two continued their fight. Going from roof to roof each time Ferral was able to knock her away. Soon, he managed to adapt to his injuries, calming himself down enough and thinking of a new fighting strategy. Still needing to take a few shots, Ferral had started to become more even with Amber as the two’s skirmish went on. He incorporated more kicks into the way he fought, using his remaining arm for blocking rather than attack. He got several strong blows, pushing her back as he put distance from her. “What's wrong?” He teased, “Can't keep up with my new fighting style?” As he goaded her, she began to get frustrated which made some of her attacks more predictable. Ferral threw up his right leg and slammed his heel against her wrists as Amber blocked the attack, the roof beneath them crumbling from the force of the attack.
The two fell down landing their feet, Ferral quickly elbowed Amber in the side of her face, then kicked her through a window of the building and back outside. He jumped out after her and was smacked across the face. He fell to the ground, then recovered to see what had hit him. He saw Amber was holding a manhole cover which she threw as hard as she could at him. He dodged it and tackled her again and the two fell into sewers of the city, both landing hard on the damp floor from the rain on the surface. They got up simultaneously, their bout continuing as they ran through the tunnels. It was dark, so the two used their hearing and smell to find where the other was. Some of their attacks would be swinging at the air or hitting against the walls of the sewer. Amber eventually found an exit and climbed up the ladder, Ferral soon following suit. Once the two both got back up to the surface, the rain had begun to slow down.
As their fight went on, the insect drones were broadcasting it around the world. Most of the population watched their battle. Ms. Avery and Mr. Bose walking through streets of Central City, Ms. Avery looked at the inside of a bar that was showing the fight on the island. “Sweetie!” She pulled Bose’s arm and the two walked inside the bar to watch the television. “T-That’s Ferral!” She exclaimed. Mr. Bose nodded, “Yeah, and he looks a little worse for wear.” The two watched intently, “Do you think he's fine?” Avery asked her husband. “I don't know. It looks like he evolved, so whoever this woman is must have been strong enough to push Ferral into this state.”
All the while, Mr. Buck and Ms. Clare watched from her apartment. Both watched nervously. “C'mon, mate,” Buck muttered, “You can do this.” Ms. Clare didn't say a word, her heart beating intensely as she prayed in her mind that Ferral would be safe.
Back to the fight; Ferral and Amber punched each other at the same time, resulting in both of the falling over knocked out. But it was not for long and as both of them got up, they stood back to back. As the two panted, they both turned their heads “Don't tell you're running out of steam?” Amber remarked. “Not by a long shot.” Ferral snapped back. “How about we continue this, hmm?” “Then shut the fuck up and fight.” The two quickly turned around and jumped back, readying themselves for another and potentially final round.
