Chapter 50:

She is Home

My Other Half

For the next few days, Paetyn was held in the hospital. Meanwhile, Kay called for his "friend" to meet with Ivaylo at his bar. The Beastman came incognito, sitting at the far back of the bar, dressed in a dark coat and a hat.

Marsh was training behind the bar to replace Kay, when he will take care of Paetyn for the next weeks. That was the plan they agreed upon. Ivaylo walked inside, with a briefcase in hand. A small glance towards Marsh polishing a glass behind the counter. Marsh slightly moved his eyes to the right, signaling him, where to go. Kay was busy serving the customers inside.

Ivaylo nonchalantly walked over, sitting down and placing the briefcase next to his left leg, looking up at the Beast hiding undercover. "I am sure, you are aware of what about this is. Right?!" The Hyena Core nodded.

"It would bring me great pleasure if someone would take care and bright the trash out. It bothers me, but before, I would like it if you could "clean" it a little. At least, it should take some time to be exact."

With folded arms, Ivaylo pushed the case towards the unknown Beastman with his leg. Everything hidden from prying eyes, under the table... "I am very grateful, you will take on that cleaning job." Ivaylo emphasized on the last sentence.

With a straight face, he walked over to the bar, sitting down, and ordering a whisky. Ten minutes later, the stranger left with the briefcase in his hand. The boys looked at each other with a smile. They knew, those bastards will suffer from now on.

Kay walked behind the bar and Ivaylo was left baffled. Suddenly Marsh and Kay were the same height. How was that possible? Kay chuckled. Walk over there and take a look if you are curious. He took him on it and checked it out.

Interesting! There were stairs and a "trench" where Kay walked, meanwhile, Marsh was standing on something that resembled a scaffolding. Very amusing! Kay suddenly soiled the mood again. "Tomorrow I will fetch Paetyn out of the hospital. It will be better if you two will keep your distance for now."

Ivaylo narrowed his eyes, leaving just a shadow under them. He was worried, that she might never snap out of that state. He saw, how horrible her suffering was. Marsh leaned on his hand resting his face in the palm a let out a sigh.

The next morning, Kay drove to the human hospital. Everybody was frightened, but the female doctor welcomed him with open arms. She knew, how much the Doberman cared for her patient and had no worries about leaving her in his paws.

Kay, a little bit crumbled under the low ceiling, began to stuff the traveling bag with Paetyn's belongings. She didn't say a word ever since he entered the hospital bedroom, just was sitting in her bed, knees under her chin and looking out of the window.

"You don't need to change. You can keep your pajamas, here..." He handed her over a coat and then picked her into his paws. He had no problem carrying her to the car and buckling her up. Paetyn remembered the time when Ivaylo did that for her.

It made her fear reappear, reminding her of the humanoid features, but at the same time, she felt a longing to be held by him. Two opposite feelings were battling in her head.

The whole ride home, she was silent, just watching, how the scenery was flying by. The underground parking lot was making Paetyn uncomfortable. It was an enclosed space with no way to escape, she thought.

Of course, Ivaylo didn't listen to Kay and he was anxiously waiting at home for her return, sitting at the bar table in the kitchen. Kay walked as first inside and he spotted him. "What the hell are you doing here?! I told you, to leave her alone for now!"

Ivaylo fumbled with his hands. Kay made a stance to shield Paetyn from Ivaylo. She didn't need to look at him right now. Kay didn't want for Paetyn to get into a panic mode. Paetyn closed her eyes and walked quickly to the bedroom. Ivaylo just reached desperately out with his hand towards her. He was hurt but understood, what he did was selfish and wrong on his side.

From behind the closed door, Paetyn called for Ivaylo.  She was leaning her back against the wood. His heart skipped a beat and nervously, he approached the other side touching the door.

"Please forgive me... I can't see you right now. It makes me go crazy, anytime I see any male with humanoid features. I can't control that, despite wishing to be by your side. Please, give me some time to deal with this and recuperate..."

Ivaylo rested his forehead on the door, accepting her request. "I am sorry, my presence brought you unnecessary fear. I will leave..." Paetyn pondered quickly. "Wait..." Ivaylo froze on the spot and turned back.

"It might help me with my recovery if you will be near me, just not in my field of vision. Deep down I know, you would never hurt me, and then... Kay is also hear, so please stay." That sentence brought tears to his eyes.

Kay wasn't keen about that idea but she could be right. Unless Paetyn says otherwise, Ivaylo will stay. Marsh will have to deal with the bar alone now. They agreed, that whenever Paetyn has to leave the bedroom, Ivaylo will go to the entrance hall and hide there.

Ivaylo was determined to be patient with Paetyn and give her all the time and space she will need to recover. Of course, he hoped it would be as soon, as possible but only the future will tell.
