Destructive Magic! And My Pathetic Excuse For An Aunt!

''There are some key principles when it comes to using and understanding magic. 1st is being able to comprehend the spell. 2nd is having enough MP for the said spell. 3rd is ha- Hey?! Are you even listening!''

Currently, my aunt is trying to teach me the basics of magic. But as you can see, it's not exactly going great. I mean, I know about %70 of this stuff from games and manga. This is pretty much a boring school lesson to me.

''You wanted ME to teach YOU magic, why are you even slacking off in the first place?''
''Yeah but this feels like a bit too easy for me, can we get to the ''how to cast actual magic'' part?''

''...''
''...You wanna see some real mind-blowing magic?''
''Okay then, as you wish.''

She gets into a spell casting position and smirks.
I'm not sure if I like where this is going.

''Oh the celestial gods of chaos and war, hear the voice of this poor faithful believer and answer to her prays. Take and crush the pathetic lives of all evil heretics! I call upon thee, Battalion of Thunder!''

The hell? I didn't understood half, no %80 of the things she just said! Huh? The air got completely filled with black clouds, I can hear some lightning voices too. What damned thing is she going to unleash upon this world?

''What the hell are you doing!?''
''Ohhh come on, didn't you said you wanted to see an actual magic?''

The black clouds clump over the top of a rock like a spiral, it's almost as if some kind of thunder god will come out inside the clouds. It went like this for a while and the clouds and the thunder noises got louder and louder.

Then suddenly, it happened.

''Hahahaha, hahahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHA! YES, THAT'S IT! HAHAHAHAHAHA!''

There are maybe hundreds, or even thousands of lightning striking over that rock. If I didn't came from another world, I would think my aunt just pissed off a thunder god and doomed all life on earth. I can't even hear anything, and if I look over to that rock I'll probably turn blind. I'm actually scared right now.

After that horrifying thunder storm, I look at the place where there was once a rock. A really beautiful one. And now I can't see anything but... nothing. Literally, I can't see anything but a crater that formed after God knows how many lightning strikes.

''Aaaaah yes, it's been a while since I unleashed a spell this powerful.''
''...''
''Well, this spell is actually not suitable at all for combat. You will probably be killed by the time you even begin chanting the spell. Unless you're doing it with multiple people, or someone's tanking for you.''

Huh? What is this woman talking about? Did she said she was my aunt? Hahaha, she must've confused me for someone.

''C-Can we go back to the basics?''
''Aaaah, but didn-?''
''Please.''
''Okay then, so there are some key prin-''

Okay so to sum up there is the usual stuff, you need MP for spells, you can only learn spells that you have the ability to etc. etc. But that's not all, there are a lot of things that are unique to this world and are important.

There is something called ''Mastery'' in this world, they're basically skill packs that allow you to easily learn or use skills. And every time you use a skill from that mastery, you get some XP. When you get enough XP, your mastery levels up. Leveling up allows you to unlock new skills, upgrade a skill to a higher tier and more. Probably.

There are 2 ways of getting one, first is being born with it. For an example, I was born with the ''Shadow Magic Mastery''. So I was able to learn the soul magic and use it efficiently from the start. But I was not born with the ''Fire Magic Mastery'', so I had to learn multiple fire magic skills and acquire the Mastery that way. And they DO matter a lot, trying to cast a perfect fireball without the Fire Magic Mastery was maddening. Sometimes I put too much power and almost killed me, sometimes I put too little, sometimes it simply didn't fly and almost burned the entire house etc. But when I got the Fire Magic Mastery skill, it became so smooth it was almost instinctual.

Also, you might be confused about my ''pathetic excuse for an aunt'' teaching me magic. Or about this situation in general. Well, she was apparently an ex-very talented adventurer, knowing both magic and melee combat. Melee combat being using a scythe, so when I said to my mother that I wanted to learn magic and literacy, she said she can teach the literacy part but she doesn't know that much magic. And after putting a really ugly hat that hides my hair and ears ,for some reason, we went a bit away from the village to practice magic. Aaaand, here we are.

I'm actually 7 years old now, if you're still confused. Apparently nothing really that interesting happens when you're a baby.

...I was actually going to continue about magic but I kind of didn't listen to it when she was explaining. And yes, this is the summed up version, It's amazing how much she can yap just after casting a world-ending level spell.

''...and these are the fundamentals of magic! Any questions?''
''Uuhh, so just out of curiosity. Are we going to repeat this lesson anytime soon?''
''...''
''You didn't listen to it didn't you?''
''...''
''*Sigh* Okay then, tomorrow I'll teach you only the essential ones and you'll take notes. And I'll slowly teach you the less important ones, so this way you won't rush them.''
''Just as expected from a school dropout.''
''What?''
''O-oh, n-nothing!''

She looks at me very suspiciously.

''Anyway, just like I said, I used up all my MP soooo...''

What? I didn't think she was serious. She definitely wasn't serious.

''...''

She smiles at me.
''We can't wait here forever y'know? Monsters might come and attack us! And maybe ,just maybe, even... The Beast of The Twilight Night may show up!

I try to lift her up and manage to lift her half-way through.

''C'mon, don't just stand there! Move!!''

Huff, puff. What IS this weight?! I'm just a 7 year old boy! Why am I supposed to lift an adult!? Oh Elea-sama help me! I ca- I can't hold i-

My legs fail me and she collapses on me. I feel like I'm holding an elephant in my back.

''Hahahahaha! Okay, okay I was just messing with you.''
''What kind of an adult messes with a kid like that!?!?''
''Well, take that as a lesson for your speech about earlier.''

Yeaaahh, she's a pathetic excuse for an aunt, and an adult.
