Chapter 6:

Chapter 6: The battleship kingdom?

Kingdom of Light

It had been a month since the siege on Blight-1, the fight with Agrai and being able to witness Cass fight firsthand was bizarre, even if the demon had barely any of its strength it was still an impressive feat, makes you wonder how strong the other council members are. My time had arrived, all the smaller missions I had accomplished and taking out one of Onyx’s champions finally paid off, Cass had given me the opportunity to strike Onyx and his main ship, I took off as soon as he gave me the mission in which I was to take out the main Battleships weapon permanently to begin a full-scale counter-attack, getting permission for this wasn’t the only thing I got out of my win over one of the champions, Cass had taken me on as his right hand. One of the many positions available after you become a regular Adventurer is to work under one of the council members, although its a rare opportunity and can only achieved through a council members recommendation. There had been no sign of activity on Onyx’s main ship, well, its not really ship its a castle but the ground beneath it is still intact so its kinda just a large mobile fortress with lots of excess land. The guns not firing was a gamble Cass had told me about before leaving, that their was a chance the castle would fire at me but there was also a chance it wouldn’t due to some problem, and I trusted Cass. The massive enemy castle lay dormant as I get close enough to board, this thing could be considered to be its own kingdom from its sheer landmass alone. The gamble paid off, I land my ship a safe distance away and walk toward the fortress, I manage to get in without any issue from abyssal troops either. ” Cass I’m on board and headed to power off the weapon,” I inform him, to access the weapon system I had to traverse the halls of the castle, the rough dark green stone shone softly under the lighting coming off from the lamps. Thanks to intel gained from the raid five years ago the route to the weapons had already been mapped out. The halls were empty, not a single living thing in sight, the further I went the more abandoned it looked. Cass taught me that the weapons go down if the power is shut down, which was obvious, it can be done remotely via the control panel found within various rooms, all of them being maintained by abyssal troops which were nothing too difficult, plus it was the first sign of activity on this thing. The castle was equipped with one weapon that consisted of three parts, this proved to be troublesome to any oncoming enemies as each one could be fired on its own, but it can also fire into on single blast. according to Commander Winter, who had been there when the raid on the first king happened, they were able to get in because my mother used brute force and slammed into the castle, temporarily knocking the weapons out with her light, unfortunately they came back online, preventing any other incursions. The weapons display had an image of the weapon with what looked to be its loading which sat at 34, and the rest was in the abyssal language which I don't understand, I was able to pull them offline. "Okay Cass, all power to the weapon is down,” as soon as Cass gave in new orders I went straight out to settle the foothold for later reinforcement, I was lead to a court and as soon I got there the enemy had been waiting. Having taken care of the troublesome company I call Cass for transmat.” Cass on whos authority did you launch this mission, Caelus get off that ship, NOW!” yelled Commander Winter, yeah normally when something like this is issued its normally run by Winter for conformation but as Cass mentioned before it was a gamble we were both willing to take. Ah, I see why the ship seemed empty, the abyssal were occupied with another invading force, it seemed they weren’t the only ones taking advantage of the faulty weapons, this new force had managed to land their ship in this courtyard and they had a tank on board which required more effort than what I was told. It belonged to the other faction that was fighting against the abyssal soldiers who seemed to be struggling against the large machine. Having to deal with a tank of unknown design can be annoying, annoying but something I have to do if we were to create a foothold on this ship to further our position in this war, the tank had now set its sights on me, wonderful. The abyssal soldiers weren’t doing much to the heavy machines outer layer, and for a tank it was capable of firing pretty fast preventing any direct assault unless you were faster than the tank, which I had underestimated when I was able to get close only to get whacked into the stone walls of the castle by the tanks gun, it hurt but not that much. When trying to brainstorm of a plan to take this thing down only one thing came to mind, it was stupid but I didn’t dwell too much on it, this time I kept my distance, pacing around the tank as it fired off at anything that got close, I waited for it to turn to me and when it did I tossed the sword in near perfect line right down the barrel of the gun resulting in its implosion. I cover my head from the shockwave of the explosion, all that was left were pieces of the tank and fortunately my sword, after having retrieved the weapon I notice the path that leads forward, or inward. Through a doorway it lead to a small set of stairs that went up four steps before continuing down. For now I would have to wait for further orders on what to do regarding that, and it seems the truce I had with the abyssals had ended as their focus was now on me.
