Chapter 10:

Feelings

Hearts Beyond Horizons

Izusaki stood up, pausing in regret as she looked back at me.

“I’ll try and find Lilac for you. If it wasn’t for me, we wouldn’t be here.”

As she was about to leave, I suddenly grabbed her wrist and stood up for myself. Although she was blushing with confusion at what was going on, I had enough of standing alone on this one.

“Tanase-chan, I’ll walk with you.”

The silence between us started to fade as Izusaki was a bit hesitant.

“Are you sure? You look very tired from last night. I don’t want to put you through even more trouble…”

At that moment, I could say I was letting my feelings for Izusaki get the best of me. What happened next you may be asking?

Well…

I raised my hands with hers, not letting go. Gripping our fingers around each other, Izusaki was mesmerized by what I was doing. Even I will admit that I was a tad bit nervous with my blood racing through my heart.

“Tanase-chan, maybe there is a reason why you and I met at that tree. Our curiosity is what led us here. We shared what we’ve been holding in about ourselves to each other because we have something in common. Something that we can run with. Our pasts don’t have to hurt us anymore. If you have shown me anything, it’s that change allows you to appreciate what you remember. Whether good or bad, our memories will live on forever… Like hearts beyond horizons.”

Okay, maybe I took that a bit too far…

As I apologized for talking so much like that to her, I tried to release my hand but suddenly realized that she wasn’t letting go.

“Umm, you can let go now. I was only trying to say that I would help us find Lilac no matter what. She is my pet after all.”

I couldn’t be sure if Izusaki was actually listening but she seemed to be in some sort of trance with my eyes.

She started getting a lot closer to me.
