Chapter 11:

Orchid Overpass

Hearts Beyond Horizons

I kept trying to remind her that everyone would be watching. As personal as it was between us, we were too young to be doing this out in the open. Plus, I had a feeling that there was only one other place that Lilac could possibly be in a park like this. It was a matter of finding it that was going to be difficult.

“Tanase-chan, what has gotten into you?” I asked as politely as possible.

Hearing this finally made Izusaki realize that she had gotten too far as well.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me. It’s just that what you said sounded cute.”

I felt an outburst of emotions coming from inside my mind. I shook my head to try and focus on what was most important.

“Listen, okay. I really apologize if that was a bit uncomfortable. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”

Sure… Now I tell myself that of all things.

Night was inching closer and we were going to need to find Lilac and get back to the station before it got late. Granted, I don’t know how we would get back there without being caught.

We began our search again until we came across what was called the Arctic Blossom Water Park. It was publicly open past the evening already which was shocking as ever to me, but regardless I knew there had to be at least one attraction that Lilac would be hanging around.

And that was when I heard a distant barking to my right.

There, at an attraction called Tidal Tubes, I saw Lilac walking alongside the massive pool. Now all we needed to do was find a way to get her to come back with us. Trying my luck by calling out my pet’s name, she immediately noticed me and started running away.

Izusaki and I chased after Lilac who probably still thought I was playing a game with her. My dog started making its way over a bridge called The Orchid Overpass. During that part of the pursuit, I began to notice how deserted it was.

Then upon reaching the back of a place called The Paradise Park Convention Center, Lilac suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.
