Chapter 671: The Story of Gravo and Boulder Demons – The Suppressed Ones

Narrator: Back in the days before Ronzic had finished conquering the light divine beings. Just 10 days before he did so.

A group of boulder demons are relaxing on the outskirts of a town in poor condition. All of the boulder demons share a similar appearance.

One boulder demon looks up at the second story of a building they are sitting next to. “If only we had a real home. I’m tired of the nomad life.”

A second boulder demon replies, “It’s the unfortunate reality that we live. We are demons but we are shunned by other demons.”

A third boulder demon adds to his comment with frustration. “Why not just charge in and demand that we can live in this area if we want!? Why are we the only kind of demon to be treated this way!?”

A fourth boulder demon responds with a calm yet definitive tone of voice. “Because we aren’t ‘designed’ the way other living beings are. Other living creatures all have similar internal organs but we are very different. We don’t even reproduce the same way.”

A fifth boulder demon speaks with a sad tone of voice. “We aren’t demons that can say we originated in the Divine World. Our species of demon is a creation of a past Dark God of this world. We will never be treated fairly by other races of demons and most definitely not anyone from the light side. Our abilities freak all of them out. That is sadly a good word to use. We are indeed freaks to them.”

The third boulder demon stands up and speaks with determination. “I’ve had enough of this! We can live here if we want to! I won’t let anyone else stop me!”

The second boulder demon stands up and shouts as the third boulder demon runs elsewhere. “No, you fool! Don’t do it!”

The third boulder demon runs out into the center area of town and begins looking at the dark divine being and demon residents there. He begins speaking somewhat loudly. “All of you, please listen to me! We boulder demons have just as much of a right to live here as you do! We’re demons and represent the dark just like all of you!”

Various dark divine beings and demons begin making remarks with disapproval or anger. “You aren’t like us.” “Go away!” “You boulder demons do weird things!” “Eek! He better not touch me!” “Get out, now!”

The third boulder demon frowns with disappointment at their responses. “What? Why? We never did anything to you!”

The residents begin charging their magic to attack so the third boulder demon begins running. As he runs, he sees a building with a stone exterior. He thinks to himself. (“Forget them! This building will be my home!”)

The third boulder demon merges into the stone, leaving behind small chunks of his rock body. Once he passes through the other side. He sees a female dark divine being sitting at a table drinking from a cup. Before he can say anything, she notices him and drops her cup while screaming. “Aaaahh!! A vile monster! I don’t want your child! Someone, help me!!!”

The third boulder demon begins trying to calm her as he speaks in a distressed tone of voice. “Wait! You have the wrong idea! I’m just trying to find a place to live!”

Suddenly, someone slams open the front door. It’s a male dark divine being. “What’s going on in here!? I heard someone screaming!”

The woman frantically shouts. “This boulder demon just came into my home without permission and was likely going to do some vile things to me!”

Other people begin gathering at the door as the third boulder demon begins to feel despair.

In narration, Gravo speaks in a serious tone. “You see, us boulder demons have a unique way of reproducing. While we do have males and females, we do not have reproductive organs. When a boulder demon is using a boulder, the boulder demon’s DNA becomes a part of it while it is part of our bodies. Reproduction occurs when a male boulder demon gives a female boulder demon one of his boulders. When the process is complete, a small boulder breaks off from the mother and becomes a new boulder demon child. Other species developed the misconception that any woman can become pregnant by a boulder demon even if we do as little as just touch them. In truth, boulder demons can only reproduce with other boulder demons. We are entirely incompatible with any other species or race. But people have a hard time letting go of their false beliefs. They will continue to hold on to their beliefs regardless of how insane it is. That day, when a boulder demon dared to demand the ability to live among the rest of the dark divine beings and demons, a suppressive hunt began. That boulder demon was killed while the other four there barely escaped with their lives. It wasn’t long before I too was one of their targets…”

Narrator: Only a week after that. Just 3 days before Ronzic finished conquering the light divine beings.

It’s night and rainy just outside a dirt-filled area with mounds throughout. Gravo is running as an angry mob of dark divine beings and demons chase after him. Gravo thinks to himself in distress. (“There aren’t any stones for me to escape into! I’m a cornered rat!”)

A dark divine being releases a magic-energy arrow from a magic-energy bow. The bow hits Gravo in his left stone leg, blasting it with enough damage to destroy it. He falls over face down.

Various people in the mob begin shouting. “We got him!” “He can’t run now!” “We need to finish him off!”

Gravo rolls over onto his back to look at those assaulting him with despair. “We boulder demons never did anything to you! Just leave us alone!”

The people ignore him and one of them shouts. “Bash him into pieces until there is nothing left!”

Gravo opens his eyes and mouth wide as there is nothing he can do.

However, someone shouts over everyone else. “Enough of this!!!”

The people turn around to see Ronzic approaching. They all step aside so that he can approach Gravo. Lightning flashes in the sky as he walks up to Gravo and stares down at him for a moment before speaking in a calm tone. “You are a being of dark and a creation of a former Dark God. You have a place in this world. The beings of light do not. Please forgive me for just now coming to your aid. My campaign against the light beings led to me being unaware of what was taking place here.”

A male dark divine being complains to Ronzic in a surprised tone. “But Lord Ronzic, these boulders demons will—!”

Ronzic interrupts him with an angry tone. “Silence! I will not turn away one of our own.”

Gravo just stares at Ronzic with a helpless look, still unsure of what to make of his words.

Ronzic resumes focusing on Gravo and holds out his hand with a smile. “Take my hand. I will help you leave this area. I’m close to finally putting an end to the light beings that have made life on this planet miserable. I’d like you to join in helping to finish my campaign.”

Gravo hesitantly begins to hold out his hand. “Help you? Will the hunts finally end?”

Ronzic nods. “Yes.”

Gravo fully reaches out and grasps Ronzic’s hand.

Gravo’s flashback has ended and he finishes telling his story to Lavana. “Little did I know that by the time the 7-day hunt ended, there weren’t that many of us left. That said, I have a lot of respect for Lord Ronzic for putting an end to the hunts. I’ll guard whatever he wants me to guard and protect it with my life. I don’t know what you are planning but I won’t let you accomplish it.”

Lavana starts smiling confidently and gets a battle stance. “That’s very admirable of you but I have a job to do. I know how to defeat you now.”

Narrator: Lavana has heard Gravo’s story but knows she still has to defeat him. She confidently claims she knows how she will defeat him now!
