Chapter 9:

Another Prep is Done

Rueda the Witch

I think we're one week away from arriving at the New World, Ben still doesn't want to help me take down the Nythern, he's a smart guy and most likely very slimy, I need to keep an eye on him when I'm hunting the Nythern.

I walk outside and I see a pigeon pass by, I think it's a messenger pigeon. I can just see the letter tied to its leg. I peek at where it's landing, and just as I expected it's for the captain, probably some important business stuff, or maybe just her daughter missing him.

Well why would I care anyway, I have a business to do. I got my bronze sword on my back, a wand on my waist, and a broom in my hand, I'm ready for some hunting. I say it like it's some sort of big thing, but what I'm hunting today is just mostly docile creatures.

I fly to the nearby island, it's tiny and probably can barely fit a fortress. It's so small in fact that the only plants living there are just a small patch of grass. But for some reason there are still a few Khloroseal just hanging around, sunbathing and chilling.

I'm sorry, but I'll ruin their day.

I aim right at its brain, to kill it quickly and use as little energy as possible. Fortunately, they're chilling, so they don't move at all, and I can do it in one shot.

I got a clean shot, so clean that the other seals don't even notice that their brethren just died right beside them.

I think I only need one, I need to shoo those seals, they'd be very annoying and most likely not happy when I dissect their friend. Well, shooting that seal in silence is just a waste of time, I still have to make them go away anyway.

I cast an explosion near them, I don't want to explode them because that's a waste.

They dive back to the ocean and leave the corpse alone, perfect.

I land at the corpse. From what I remember, their stomach is about in the middle of their body. I really want to do it quick and dirty, I think I can just chop straight through its bones and hack through the meat until it got cut into two.

I take out my sword and start hacking away at its body. It's pretty hard, but I can see the progress, it doesn't take that long. A few minutes later I cut the body in half, I can see it's stomach, for some reason, it feels satisfying just slashing something over and over, is this what those troops feel in fights?

I can see its stomach, I cut it from its digestive system and take it out, it's pretty slimy and gross, but I can just wash my hands later. I put a glass bottle on the ground and then slice the stomach carefully so the liquid inside doesn't spill. I only put a little hole, and then I pour the liquid slowly into the bottle, if it ever touches my skin it's really bad news.

Phew, it's done, it's just about full the entire bottle. I have to use glass to store it because it will melt metal and leather. I can use clay pots but most of them are too big to carry around, and I just so happen to have a glass bottle.

I need to be careful to not spill it or break the bottle because it's dangerous and also annoying to get it again. I put it inside a special bag, it's just another bag with a little bit more cushion inside.

I fly back to the ship and I see Ben just chilling under the sails, I want to go to my room but he sees me.

"Where you have been?" He asks me.

"Just getting something from an island nearby."

"I see." He said, before lighting another cigarette, what is this guy's lungs made of? He smokes like it's a snack that you can casually eat.

I already got 2 of the 3 main ingredients, and though it's really easy to get these items, the real challenge is the Nythern, especially if I'm taking it down alone.

I wonder if I can sneak on it, and stab its eye to get the tears. Um, no, it will wake up and then I have to knock it down anyway.

I don't know if my magic can slice it either, I probably can, but it will either take a lot of energy or take a lot of time, both are dangerous if I ever run out either while still near them. If I run out of time then it will get pissed off and I have to fight it, if I run out of energy then its friends will eat me while I'm fainted.

It's entirely possible that I can do it that way, their scales aren't immune to magic, just very resistant to it, I don't know how much because the book that I bought didn't go into more details, well it's for casuals so I guess they only include the basics.

I have to do it, this is just like the old days when I gambled my soul, except now it's for my own good, instead of the fat rats in the government. if I can do it then I don't have to work in my journey, ever, I just scam clueless people.

That makes me sound just like those rats, well small scams are not that big of a deal compared to what I did in the past, so.

I'll never pay someone who actually needs it with fake money though, they deserves better, unless it's all because of their own fault.
