Chapter 8:

AJ

Shift

I pull Summer aside first thing when she gets to the dorms. “My dad called my sisters missing.” She looks up eyes wide. There’s something wrong, but I can’t pin point what.

“What?” She says. Her fake simile fades with the news.

“She’s missing I had a vision. Midnight had a vision. My dad called. The packs looking for her. Hey are you ok?” I say quickly.

“I’ll be alright. Are you ok?” She asks.

“Mark my words. I will be.” I say. A growl in my voice. I stock the pantry of my new camper. I think about tearing the guy who took her to shreds. I stop when I slam down a box of granola bars down to hard, and they scatter on the floor. As I pick them up I hear Summer approaching.

“Hi. Hello, and how did you get a camper?” She asks. She sticks her head in. Probably smelt me across the parking lot, and the campers hard to miss. It’s big. The best money can buy.

“My dad’s letting us barrow it.” I say.

“Us?” She asks.

“You know, we have a better chance of finding her than the pack. Midnight already gave me a location. Westwood. The fair we went to last year.” I say.

“How do you know we’ll have a better chance than finding her than your entire pack?” She asks. “They change the location every year.”

“Because you have better visions than anyone.” I say. “Please I can’t do this with out you.” She sighs and steps in. Just like I knew she would. She would never leave someone who needs her help. She’s just that sort of person. Good. She opens her mouth.

“Your vegan snacks are in this pantry. Mine are in this one.” She smiles a big, light up your day kind of smile. I pull out a piece of jerky, and jump to the drivers seat. She takes her place next to me in the front. I show her a photo. “This is the guy that took her for ransom money. Tiger shifter.” I say. She leans back in the seat, and closes her eyes to concentrate. I buckle her seat belt like I would my my little sister when she was younger. She doesn’t stir. She eyebrows furrowed like they are when she’s really focused. I start the car, and check my phone one last time for more details. A headline catches my eye. I skim the article for more details. A body was found on campus. A murder by knife. I look at Summer. She’s willing to kill to protect herself, and others. Good. I start the vehicle.
