Chapter 45:
The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter
After finishing his meal that Ayane gave him, he went upstairs and headed to bed. But this time, he was planning on staying late. Grabbing his phone, he texted then girl he met, Sakiko.
"I guess this should be the perfect time."
Meanwhile Sakiko was doomscrolling on her phone while in the bathtub, completely free of clothes and drenched with hot and steamy water.
Her phone gives off a notification, "A message from Kanako."
She got up from her comfort zone and sat upright, blushing and curious about his intentions.
"Why is he texting me in the middle kf the night?", she said, flushed out. Her being naked in the bathroom and texting with him was a little awkward for her, but she continued.
"Are you free now? Can we chat?", Kanako texted.
"What the heck... is he hitting on me?", Sakiko thought, not in a negative but in a positive way.
"Sure!", she replied enthusiastically.
But her enthusiasm soon ran dry as Kanako asked her how Ayane was back in middle school.
"I see... so thats the reason he exchanged numbers.", Sakiko thought, annoyed.
Everytime Sakiko tried to talk casually, Kanako would always direct it to Ayane, which frustrated her to the point where she started ghosting him altogether.
"Its always her... why is he so obsessed with that girl?? What is she?? Shes just a dead body with a soul!! Why is he so obsessed!!", Sakiko shouted, "That bitch Ayane is getting a little too much princess treatment, I have to fix that.", she said.
As the time of the night go by, Kanako waited for her reply. But he was left on seen.
"Maybe she forgot to reply.", he said optimistically, before texting her again and went to sleep.
But he didn't know who was the main culprit behind all of Ayane's trauma during middle school...
It was a story of the past,
"Hey did you hear that?"
"That Ayane-chan is moving to our school? Yes i did.", the crowds whispered around Sakiko, who was already annoyed at her being compared with her all the time by her parents.
As she walked through the hallways, those chatter was filled with Ayane's name. Although Sakiko and her classmates ware seniors, they were still discussing about it.
As Sakiko walked up to her classroom and sat at her desk, she was questioned by her classmates about Ayane.
"Hey Sakiko. I heard that Ayane's full name is Ayane Nao. Your family name is Nao too. Are you two, somehow, related?"
Fustration pent up inside her. She was annoyed. She doesn't want to answer. Why would she want to say that someone she hates is related to her by blood? Deep inside she knew that Ayane did nothing wrong for her to hate her to that extent. But that realisation was already clouded by her mental pressure from her family.
"Yes. She is my cousin. Why do you ask?", she replied.
