Chapter 2:

No One Can Hear You In Space

The Sorrowful Jedi

I turn on my ship’s auto pilot, and sit back in the pilot seat. Truth be told I’m a terrible flyer. I try so go into a meditative state, but my mind against my will wonders instead. If I am to find them, and they have fallen to corruption I am to kill them, or leave them. I am to make that call. That’s why I was sent. Because they believe they need to send someone there to make that call. Though not often this sort of abandonment has happened before. People have come back choosing differently each time. If they have not fallen to deeply into the dark side then I am to try to convince them to come back. I know they won’t. Even though they will never be allowed to return. They have lost their home… and me. By making this choice. The Jedi would certainly kill them. If they still exited. The sith would ask them to join, and when they refused they would die. What dark ways to deal with the dark side. Luckily our people believe in mercy when it comes to our own. That’s why she has sent me. She knows I will confirm that they have betrayed us, and I will inform them they are not to return. That will be that. All though were light force users, our beliefs are not as strict as the ways of the Jedi where familiar with. It’s rare we call ourselves Jedi. It’s usually just used a short, and easy way of explaining that would light force users. We only use the light side. We allow marriage, and children. We train those with the force young, but do not separate them from their parents until they are old enough to choose for themselves. We are hidden away from most of the galaxy. Our planet is believed to be barren. BB2, my blue and white droid friend, bumps my leg.

“Sorry.” I say. “Lost in thought.” A series of beeping comes from the droid. “Yes. You’re right.” I close my eyes, and focus on finding their location. I focus on my master’s energy. The way he feels connect to the force. Connected to me. The feeling is nostalgic, loving, strong, and very cold. I smell rain in the air. The images come next. Large green leaves. Branches abruptly cut through by the red of a light saber. I swallow at the sight of it. He really did it. Made a Kyber crystal bleed. He leads the way though a jungle. I hear the dipping of water, and the scuttling of unfamiliar insects. I sense the burnt branches. Smell the smoke, and feel a bit sorry for them. My old master helps Melra over a large log. Though I doubt she needed it, we are well away he likes taking care of us anyway. He’s the closest we have… had to a father.

“There’s a cave this way. We’re almost there. Should be there by nightfall.” He says. I feel something strong coming from Melra. Bitterness? No a feeling betrayal. The audacity. I clench my hands together. My master looks around as if sensing me watching them, and the emotions bubbling up breaks my concentration. I take a breath. I look at my hands. There’s new dents were my fingernails dug in. I hear a deep next to me. I pat my mostly round droids head.

“I’m alright. And I know where we’re heading to next.”
