Chapter 3:

Anger and Fear

The Sorrowful Jedi

I land on a hot weather planet. Filled with jungle. It takes me a moment to find a place to land. The trees here a dense. Trees, and oceans cover the surface of the planet. The ship shakes a moment as I land on uneven ground. BB2 rolls to one side. Then makes a series of fast, loud beeping sounds.

“Hey you chose to get in a ship with me.” I say. A shrill beep fills the air, but she gets over it. I pack some provisions. I look at my bot wondering if I should bring her with me. There aren’t many life forms here. To many storms, rain, and dense trees. Having my ship be stolen feels unlikely. Yet I have this nagging feeling I should do this alone. It’s clear that’s what was the counselor intended. Still she did allow me to take the droid in the first place. I drum my fingers.

“Come on Bee.” I say, using her nickname. I slip her in my bag, her ‘head’ sticking out. “Alert me to any potential danger you see.” I send out my senses though the force. No predators, parasites, or dangerous plants I can sense in the immediate proximity. I close my eyes. I glimpse green leaves with dripping water, blue sky and forming clouds, and a camp fire. Melra sits in front of it. She’s so cold. I snap out of it. I point. “Where going this way Bee.” I walk over branches, and roots. Trying not to step on some rather gorgeous flowers. They grow tall here. Like none I’ve ever seen in person. We rarely leave out planet. It’s been years for me. I barely remember what the rest of the universe looks like. I sense a charge nearly. They’re territorial creatures. Native only to this planet. I sense them, and their anger. As I walk I feel them begin to charge me. My mind melds with theirs. They sense my calm. My complete lack of fear. We come to a sort of understanding. I send the animal away, and they leave. I can sense that I’m close. Another set of images tells me they sense I’m here, and Tonnis is making dinner for the three of us. I can sense Melra’s anger bubbling, and rising to the surface. I’m not fast enough to calm down a serpentine, twin tails that lashes out towards me. Melra sensing my fear rises to her feet. Still too far away to do anything. Still I calmly and habitually pull out my saber, and ignite it in one swift motion. With one strike the animal is dead. I kneel before it. Poor innocent thing. It was scared too. “May you return to the force.” A beep sends me back on my way. “I’m ok.” I say absentmindedly. Melra is pacing now. Master Tonnis is standing, waiting for me. “Master-“ I call out when he’s in my line of sight. A lightsaber ignites. I’m bathed in a red light. I take a fighting stance, and on instinct light my blue lightsaber. I sense my sisters anger, and fear before I even turn my head to face her.

“What are you doing here?” She asks. She’s breathing heavily.

“What do you think you’re doing pointing that weapon at me?” I shoot back calmly.

“Have you come to kill us?” She asks sharply. Her voice like needles.

“No.” I un-ignite my lightsaber. She slowly lowers hers.

“Dinners ready.” Master Tonnis announces breaking the tension.
