Chapter 5:
The Sorrowful Jedi
I start awake up at first light. The others are still sleeping. I’m sweating, and filled with the echo of shear terror. I take a breath. BB2 bumps my boot.
“I’m okay. I had a vision.” I swallow the taste of ash in my mouth. I’ve always had intense visions. I try to piece together the few images I had gotten. A fire of some kind that was clear. A forest fire? If that was the case it couldn’t be on a planet like this. I sit cross legged on my bed roll, and try to meditate on it. It felt personal. Still the feelings are unclear. I normally see more than this. I fear I saw so little because there is little chance of me changing this future. A volcano eruption is a strong possibility. I saw one while flying over head. I could still feel the heat on my skin. I shiver.
“Are you alright?” My master’s gentle, but deep voice takes me out of the trance.
“Is the volcano on this planet active?”
“No. It’s dormant. You avoided my question.” He says.
“I had a vision of a fire.”
“Still not the answer to my question.” He says.
“Will you please take this possible threat seriously.” I say.
“I am, but I’m also trying to take your feelings into account as well.” He says kneeling next to me.
“I appreciate your concern. I’m alright. I’ve had worse visions. This one though… it felt more personal. This involves us somehow.” I state.
“That’s not good.” He says.
“Indeed.” I say. “Do you think it could be the Empire? Setting an explosion of some sort.” My master thinks on this as Melra jerks awake.
“The Empire?” She asks not missing a beat of my conversation despite being in a deep sleep a second ago. The plus of being a force user, and our bond.
“It’s just a theory.” My master says.
“More like an educated guess.” I say. “We should all pack our things. Find somewhere more hidden. For your safety perhaps you can temporarily return to Manatis.”
“You think they would let us.” Melra says coldly. “There very strict on cutting ties with any dark force users.” She was right. They would never agree to it.
“It would do no harm to ask.” I say.
“Let’s not make any hasty decisions.” Tonnis says.
“Yes because you certainly don’t make those.” I say.
“He planned on leaving for a long time.” Melra snaps.
“Not enough to inform me of this plan sooner. BB2 come with me, and such for any livable hidden away planets.” I stalk toward my ship. I know that my old masters, and Melta’s smaller x shaped ship are hidden in the foliage near where they set up camp. So at least I know they have a quick escape. I enter my ship. I go into the lounge to make the call. The blue hologram flickers to life.
“Zylla. What is your report?” Great, it was the counselor I greatly disliked.
“They will not receive death from my lightsaber.” She hums.
“Yes well they may yet face the consequences of their choice elsewhere.” By falling into corruption, and being murdered she means. I clench my teeth, fighting to keep my mouth shut. “Well this is good. You are to leave them immediately, and return to Manatis.”
“I can not.” The words slip out. The way she looks at me. Her eyebrow arches. Cutting all ties very seriously. As Melra said before. “I fear do to a vision they may be in danger-“
“The safety of those traitors is not your concern. You are to return to Manatis by our nightfall. End of discussion.” She goes to turn off the hologram. I see a friend of mine, Melvin, in the background. He can’t use the force, but he is a talented mechanic. He waves shyly at me. I wave back. She notices, and scoffs ending the call. She always felt I was too un-disciplined. To emotional, to attached, to invested, and especially to powerful. My master turning to the dark side probably only cemented that fear in her head. I felt like crying or breaking something, but I push the ceilings down. They won’t help. I stop the tears, and stand.
“Let’s go Bee. We have twenty-four clicks to save my family.”
