Chapter 79:

The bridge.

The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter

"How did you know that I was playing the main heroin role?", her voice was sleepy, her eyelids heavy.

"Well, seeing your class got the stage play, I was 99 percent sure that you would be the main character."

"Eh... is that so? Well I don't know if I remember how to act. I need practice, and maybe someone who can help me. I need to get back in track."

Kanako remained silent. He was thinking of something. Ayane glanced at him, her chin on his shoulders, trying to read his thoughts. But her mind was too sleepy to function properly.

Kanako grinned. "Then I might just have to kidnap you for real.", he turned his head, looking at her. "Do you mind?"

"I don't.", Ayane smiled. "But where are we going?"

"To my place."

"Okay... EHH?!?", her sluggish mind suddenly started running at full speed. Her heart raced as she processed those words. Her face blushed heavily, and she removed her chin from his shoulder in an instant, trying to understand his intentions— though she knew it was not evil— she was surprised he said that all of a sudden. There should've been a warning at least. She looked at him with a surprised face. "Why all of a sudden?", she shifted her weight to herself.

"Woah woah. Easy there! We are going to fall!", Kanako exclaimed, trying to regain balance on his bike. "You will know why. It's going to be a surprise!"

"Ehh?! Why?? Tell me!", Ayane insisted, her face flushed.

"Nope!"

"Ehh...", she again leaned on him, shifting her weight towards him, and rested her chin on his shoulders. She closed her eyes, and could hear nothing but the cold wind rubbing against her eardrums. Kanako rang the cycle bell.

"Ayane-chan. I can feel your heartbeat. Its going wild."

"Yeah? That's what you get for telling me that so suddenly. I can't do anything about it, can I?", she said sleepily, without opening her eyes.

Kanako felt the heartbeat slowly calming down. He smiled. "Ayane-chan, do you like this type of weather?"

"Hmm... why do you ask?", she replied before waiting for his answer. "When I am sleeping, yes. When I need to work, no."

Kanako laughed. "You become really tired when the humidity is high, huh?"

"Yes... I feel like sleeping right now...", her voice softly turned into a murmur, her mind was slowly drifting into unconsciousness, her body was slowly becoming numb as she was about to fall asleep.

But then, a cold, sharp sensation hit her nape, causing her to suddenly wake up. Thousands of the same cold, sharp sensations hit her in all places of her body. "Its raining!", she exclaimed, as she shivered.

"Yeah!", Kanako sped up his paddling, trying to evade the raindrops which was unavoidable.

Her eyes couldn't fall asleep during rain. She looked around to see the unfamiliar surroundings. "Where are we? Shouldn't we be at the train station by now?", she asked.

"I was taking a different route today. I was going to use the bridge as I have my bike. But who knew its going to rain?", some water got into his mouth a he tried to speak. Ayane held out her arms, feeling the cold water that was pouring down from the purple skies. "Look! We can see the bridge!", Kanako exclaimed.
