Chapter 10:

This Isn't How a Sister is Supposed to be

I Know You Can't Write!

The screen began filling with images of countless women. Big, small breasts, cosplays, school uniforms, office workers, nurses, maids, low angles, high angles, censored, uncensored, some really freaky stuff I don’t want to describe. Everything.

“H-how… How do you know my password?”

“That doesn’t matter. What does, is our mutually assured destruction.”

“Huh?”

“If I go down, you go down with me.” Sayuri stood up from the chair.

I straightened my posture and pushed up my glasses. “Y-you want to make a compromise?”

She nodded. “I get to use your computer from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM every morning.”

“No way!”

Before I could realize she was snapping dozens of photos of the monitor.

“Okay okay…! 6:30 to 8:00.”

“That’ll work.”

I seriously don’t understand her. I don’t want to sound weird but my sister is very attractive— Now hold on! It’s in an undeniable conventional sense. Anyone would think so, I’m really not exaggerating. It’s like when someone is just plainly good looking and you can’t deny it.

I’m not weird for saying that. You’re weird for taking it the wrong way!

Now with that of course come her popularity, her friends, her after school activities, blah blah blah— more importantly! That means she should be acting how cute sisters do in light novels!

She shouldn’t be saying unrepeatable words on FPS games at five in the morning!

Hold on, isn’t that a trope in its own right? A girl in a sailor uniform getting hyper competitive over a video game!?

That could be an amazing trope! I should write this down!

During this very meaningful mental debate, I was on my way to school. I’d say I was about halfway—having passed the Family Mart but not yet making it to the main four-lane road.

Where I was, the streets were still narrow and the telephone poles were amalgamations of countless wires and boxes.

I let out a sigh as a harsh realization hit me. Sayuri probably spends more time playing video games than I do reading or writing, yet she’s infinitely more popular…

No…

This isn’t something to be sad about. You— me— I— I have the heart and mind of a creative, I spend my time making a world for people to love! That is a greater infinity than her popularity is.

Having friends means nothing when you can create your ideal world with all your friends instead. Besides, I can become famous from this and I’ll be much more popular than Sayuri.

“What’re you mumbling about?”

That voice… “Ah! Akimoto-san! N-n-nothing! I was just uh, singing a song I heard recently.”

I turned around to the source of the question. As I expected, it was Akimoto. I’d like to add, the angle of the morning sun seriously did her blonde hair justice.

“And the lyrics are about how popular your little sister is…?”

“Yes.”

She gave me a suspicious look but decided to move the conversation on. “Anyways, what’re you doing here? Do you usually take this way to school?”

I glanced around at the shop-fronts and buildings. “Now that you mention it… I was so focused on my sis— song, that I forgot to take my turn.”

“Is that so?”

I nod rapidly.

“Well, just follow me, school’s not too far from here.”
