Chapter 1:

On the road to the haunted farm

A ghoulish Lovesung

Crows cawed as a large white van drove down a dirt road, heading for the old abandoned Angus farm and manor. The Angus family used to be one of the wealthiest farming families in the nation, but were suddenly wiped out over the course of a single night during the late 1800s. It was said since then that the ghost of the family patriarch, Argus Angus, would constantly roam the cornfields at night.

If this was just a rumor, things would be fine, but various construction crews that had attempted to renovate the Angus family lands had reportedly been attacked by a pumpkin-headed specter riding atop a black horse. Not just that though, many had actually been murdered, and despite numerous large-scale police investigations, no culprit was ever found.

Ever more mysterious was the weather when the attacks occurred. At night, the skies would always be clear, but during the day, torrential rain. The specter also seemed to appear only when minimal people were present. Eventually, the workers all had enough and quit on the spot, infuriating their boss. Said boss then angrily went to the manor grounds himself, and the next morning, the specter appeared and tossed the man's lifeless corpse before a crowd of workers before riding off into the downpour and vanishing. Since then, no one had dared venture to the Angus family grounds, until today.

"Hey, hey! You're listening to Lovesung radio with Mia n' Maya! Oh, we also got Big guy here too. Today, we're in the back of a shady white van. No, we haven't all been kidnapped. These guys are... Well, I know not everyone thinks ghost hunters are legit and all, but they say they're the best of the best."

The Lovesung sisters, Mia and Maya, were twins that had recently struck it big in the music world. Along with fellow friend, Big Guy, aka Benny Guster, who was ironically just an average looking guy, had formed a group and struck it big enough to the point where they now had their own radio show.

Today, the three had decided to travel with some ghost hunters known as Mystery trading co, or MT co for short. That group was also comprised of three members, Cameron James, Kale Courtney, and Shana Yuremoto.

"You three are out of your mind! That place is dangerous! I'm not going to have your deaths make the news!" a voice shouted from the other end of Maya's phone.

"Calm down, it's just urban legend. Besides, the murders occurred what, like back in the 80s or something? Besides, these guys we're with are professionals."

The person on the other end was not reassured in the slightest, and continued to berate the group before Maya just decided to end the call.

"Our manager everyone!"

"My, you sure are bold to answer a private call like that on air," Shana smirked.

"She's always been this brash. Mia on the other hand's more quiet," Big Guy sighed.

Mia simply smiled and did a small hand-wave before refocusing on the DJ turntable before her. Mia was a girl who had never been able to speak properly. At most, a meek squeak was all her vocal chords would be able to produce. However, she had a twin sister that did all the talking, and was always there for her. Despite not being able to talk though, she was very beautiful and had a talent for disc jockeying and song writing.

Maya on the other hand was a talented vocalist while Big Guy was the beat-boxer and drummer. The band had largely formed around Mia, who had always been enamored by music, but due to her inability to speak, was unable to fully realize her dream. That was until Maya stumbled upon her sheet music and began singing one of the songs, bringing a tear to Mia's eye.

"So get this, apparently ole Argus once started a diplomatic incident after he killed a Spanish diplomat. What made him do it? Apparently he insulted him, and ole Argus lost his temper and crushed the diplomat's head by repeatedly slamming pumpkins into it. And when the army went to arrest him, he apparently slaughtered most of the force, but ultimately perished. The scary thing though is that the very next night, all the troops stationed at the farm were brutally murdered, with all their injuries matching those of the troops Argus had killed when he was alive."

"My, so it was ruled out to be a copycat then?" Shana asked.

"Hey, you're the ghost expert, not me.  Though the reports of Argus' ghost kind of remind me of a pumpkin-headed ghoul from a game Big Guy played back in the day. What was it again? Something fortress  I think."

"My, what kind of game is it?"

"A video game."

"Oh, then that's outside my realm of expertise. The only games I play are simple board and card games, as well as..."

The sudden screeching of the van's breaks, cut Shana off. Realizing what this meant, she smirked and grabbed her cane before opening up the back door to the van. Everyone gazed out at the vast eerie cornfields illuminated by the moonlight along with the old rickety manor looming in the distance. They had arrived at their destination.
