A Story Set in the Stars That Doesn't Drift Too Far From Home...

Hoshinauts began for me as a reading exchange but quickly became one of my favourite stories to date on Honeyfeed. I found myself coming back more frequently to the tale woven by Steward McOy, yearning for the next chapter. It was quite obvious right away that the author had a deep passion for space, and it translated well into this Girl Love masterpiece. Being a new reader to the latter genre, this was a fantastic introduction and, in my humble opinion, a must-read!

With every chapter, I found myself increasingly curious about the world and the lore. The author did well to touch on modern-day struggles artfully without bashing the reader over the head with it. This tied well into the main body of the story and acted as a great background theme that kept the reader engaged and present. The talent to seed small amounts of foreshadowing into the text was also there, with a regular teasing at the next big thing coming. There were moments of stress and tension that kept the story moving along, but there were also pieces of levity that kept the tale from being too one tone. I was particularly a fan of the way the author handled the addition of small slice-of-life scenes into the dramatic struggle for power. A struggle that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end!

But the end of the story wasn’t just the end! The Omake chapters were provided as a worldbuilding/lore section, though I found these parts just as important as the story itself. I’d recommend reading all the way through to see the scenes behind the scenes of the story. By reading the moments that were only briefly mentioned in the primary tale, you gain a whole new understanding of the characters, their thoughts, and wishes. You get to watch them continue to grow and develop, and even gain some new insights into their lives before their struggle to survive in low Earth orbit began.

I’ve given this story 5/5 stars because there is no option for more, and believe me, if it were possible, I would rate it higher. If you haven’t had a chance to read Hoshinauts, I’d definitely recommend starting today and not stopping!
