Marina is a magical girl who loves magic. Usami is a magical girl who loves Marina. When the two team up to take down a strong opponent, Marina discovers something more rewarding than fighting for justice: fame. After blowing up on social media, Marina can't get enough of it, and begins resorting to ever more desperate stunts to extend her fifteen minutes of fame.
But no good thing lasts forever, and and when the public moves on from Marina's antics, she lashes out with powerful magic. Can Usami save Marina—and the world—from her self-destructive behavior as her popularity fades?
This is short, and somewhat of a rough draft. I wrote it early in the year, trying to anticipate what the contest prompt would be, and while I had a fun writing it, I now have other writing projects that are taking my time, and I know I won't come back to this one, so I'm publishing it as-is.
The first chapter, and the first part of the second chapter are relatively complete. The rest is mostly fast-moving summaries of what happens in the rest of the story. The idea was to expand these summaries out into multiple chapters each, if the story fit the contest prompt.
