In a world where all its problems have been solved by technology, humanity has become a spectator of its own creation. Matsuo, a 23-year-old boy, lives in a dazzling but soulless utopia. While robots and artificial intelligence have taken over humanity's jobs, Matsuo searches for something that makes him feel alive and necessary.

As the world of entertainment is humanity's only occupation, Matsuo ventures into the universe of existing virtual worlds where he tries to escape reality. The less he expected, in one of those worlds, he meets Mizuki, a girl who, for unknown reasons, has lived in that virtual world since she was a child. The two end up creating a connection in a reality where humanity seems emptier than robots.
