Literally starting things off, I have to first comment on just how engaging the prologue for this was. It had me hooked the second I got to the end of it and made me super invested in reading more.
The amazing writing doesn't just end there though, it very much continues to carry through the piece. I won't say it's literally perfect—there was a few strange wordings/formatting in some places that made it hard to sometimes follow the scene—but for all intents and purposes, it was perfect for me. 5/5 stars, no question about it.
The characters and their charm are easily one of the strongest features of this story—especially their interactions with one another. The chemistry between our two main characters had me absolutely rooting for them throughout every chapter, and I love the humor and pure emotions that drips through their exchanges, quips, and sometimes poorly veiled kinks.
The world was amazing as well. I'm a sucker when it comes to well executed localized/small-town politics, and even though it's not exactly comparable here, the way that everyone's actions actually felt like it would impact the greater lives of others made it feel that much more real. The groundedness of their struggles despite the fantastical setting really elevated the stakes and investment for me.
All in all, I highly recommend giving this a read. Obliviousbushtit's writing is an absolute blast to experience.
(A last parting note for the competition this is entered in, I wouldn't blink twice if this ended up winning. It would fully deserve to.)
