Treacherously Addictive

9/10

Beware, dangerously addictive.
With its colourful, "human" characters, this webnovel holds the reader's attention from the first chapter. Between Elisa, rebellious and full of repartee, sometimes a bit silly; and Kael, proud and possessive... we discover a delightful romance of which we instantly want moar.... moar;... MOAR.

At the beginning, the MC's amnesia allows us to see her husband's; the vampire count's weaknesses. His attachment draws Kael - ordinarily unwavering - in a fragile state, and we wish but one thing. To see him win back Elisa's heart!!

The development of the characters and of their relationship is thorough. We see them overcome little by little a slightly toxic relationship, Elisa whose strength of character is more and more beaming... A true Highcliff girl! And Kael who does as best he can to make amends concerning the harm caused by his parents. An even more marked development for Elisa who will even be granted an arc expanding a family plot as touching as it is cruel.

The political plot as well is very well set. The tension, the bitterness of dominated folk is felt, scarred by past conflicts. It's quite authentic.

If I had a ughhh point it would be that some passages like fights can rapidly become chaotic ( understandable though, these are not easy to handle ). There are sometimes some changes/additions which create conflict with the established vibe ( technological stuff appearing despite the fantasy/magical background ). What would probably be less unsettling if more present since the beginning.

But I digress. I look forward for a volume II!!!!!!!
