What is Girl and the Rift?

7/10
What is Girl and the Rift? What an intriguing question. I suppose I don't have a simple answer to it. What makes Girl and the Rift what it is? Perhaps it's how others define it. If that's the case, what do I think it is?
Over the course of this story, I've felt many ways about it. I've found it interesting, unique, amusing, on the nose, bold, disappointing, something that I know could be better, just to name a few.
Now, breaking out of the script, let's talk about a story focused on a play, a deceitful, superficial play, which tries to desperately hold onto us for the sake of delivering one final, underlying truth.
There is a big problem with this play: it's underwhelming despite being what will take most of our time here. The actors are mere marionettes so forced along the script you can oftentimes see the underlying strings. They are all defined by little more than a single color, a beautiful, radiant color, but one you soon start finding dull as the scenes progress and you realize there is nothing else to see in them.
But then why bother with such a play? As mentioned before, because it is also interesting, unique and bold. It tries something few dare to even think about, and even though the superficial play is weak, the underlying truth is strong enough to warrant the ride.
It could be better, undoubtedly. If rather than marionettes on strings, there were real actors defined by multiple shades of colors playing this spectacle, then the secret they hide would be that much more powerful.
If the play was as good as the truth, this would be a true Symphony of Deception.
Unfortunately, as it stands currently, it is only a very good idea, with a flawed execution.
