Osthryn is a Dragon with a problem: she lives in Bettramon, a nation where magic and Dragons are execrated as despicable devilry. It would be no real problem if she were content living in disguise for all her days, but after four hundred years of being hunted, she has had enough. She travels south to Grosberg as a scribe's apprentice: a nation where she hears that magic is embraced and Dragons fly free.
