After the Demon Lord's death, the world of Balah was plunged into chaos. The heroes who slew the Demon Lord turned their swords against one another for their own agendas. Amidst all these, the cultist Theophilus began to summon individuals from the real world to find the perfect vessel for the Demon Lord so that they can use his power to slay the heroes and resurrect Him.

That is when Akiyama Faust, a friendless, introverted university student appeared before him. Both men strived for the perfect answer to their questions, both wanted something they could never quite reach, so they both did what they had to do.
