After an accidental overdose on sleeping pills, Shidou Hirawa finds himself in the Aurum Reve: the realm of dreams, where those who’ve committed suicide with an unfulfilled wish are sent after death. In this world, floating islands drift through a dayless sky, connected by a magical railway and separated by an endless sea of clouds and stars below. The native residents pursue their dreams without worry, while the reincarnated are offered the same life under one condition: they must earn their right to live in the realm by serving as Dreamweavers for ten years—those who exterminate the violent Nightmares that roam the realm.

Seeing the opportunity to live the life he always wanted, Shidou, with nothing but his most treasured item from his past, his sketchbook, reluctantly takes on the task. However, there seems to something else out there that seeks to sink the realm into the sea of stars below—a group known as The Nihility.
