Hiro Chozen, a second-year high school student and avid gamer, is unexpectedly transported into a world eerily similar to Sacred Pilgrimage, his favorite fantasy adventure game. Equipped with sky-high hopes, he assumes the role of the legendary Hero, ready to follow the game’s familiar plot and save the realm.

But this world is real. The monsters are merciless. And when the Demon King himself shows up in the tutorial zone, Hiro’s entire party is slaughtered within moments.

Enter William: a middle-aged, underachieving adventurer with average stats and zero interest in world-saving quests. When he stumbles upon the remains of the so-called chosen ones, he's more interested in salvaging loot than slaying demon lords.

But destiny and possibly the Demon King’s increasingly unhinged rampage has other plans.

Can an unremarkable man, written off as a background NPC, take up the Hero’s fallen mantle? Or will he prove that true courage isn’t reserved for protagonists?
