Iwao Aoki, a perfect high-school student, suffers from terrible nightmares that make him cry and fear his own sleep, each one worse than the last.

One night, after a dreadful day, he has his worst nightmare yet. The creature that has haunted his nightmares for as long as he can remember appears and the terror grows so intense that, upon waking, he can no longer tell nightmare from reality. Before he understands, he finds himself dead in his bed.

In total darkness, he awakens elsewhere, in another body. This isn't his room, this isn't him. He has arrived in a completely different world.

Now looking like a monster, he’s all alone, struggling to accept his appearance in a world that rejects him. In this strange world, he strives to unlock his powers and learn magic to reach his goals. But the road ahead will test him, both mentally and physically.

On his journey to be accepted and to find his lost humanity, questions remains: Will anyone help him? Will he ever know happiness?
