18-year-old Sakiko has never fit in with her classmates. While others obsess over trends, she is captivated by Japan’s traditional performing arts. On a school trip to Kyoto’s historic Gion district, she makes a wish beneath the cherry blossoms: To become a geisha, where art and beauty matter above all else.

Sakiko is magically transported through time, into the Tokugawa era. She is no longer a student, but a maiko-in-training! Thrust into a demanding world of tea houses, shamisen rehearsals, and rival apprentices. It is all very overwhelming - Not quite what Sakiko pictured! She learns that to return home she must achieve the impossible: Become the best Geisha in Gion.

But as she struggles against fierce competition and the weight of tradition, Sakiko uncovers family secrets, unexpected friendships, and the stirrings of forbidden love. The question soon changes: will she ever reach the top and return to normal…Or will she choose to stay where her heart now belongs?
