Jabez (nickname "JZ") is a loner with a strong sense of justice. When his meddling gets him gunned down by a crooked cop, he finds himself at the pearly gates of Heaven. Despite being welcomed in, he rejects the invitation, saying he doesn't belong in such a place. When shown the alternative, Jabez doesn't want to go to Hell either. A mysterious figure called Gamugin then appears to offer an alternative, a "second chance at life" in the realm of Elonia. Gamugin wants JZ to stir things up in the realm to make it interesting again, and return, he'll grant the man one wish...
