The most persistent human challenge isn't external, but internal: figuring yourself out. For Saitou Jinko, a young boy living on the outskirts of Shirakawa-go in the late 1800s during a civil war, that challenge is a mental cage. He’s tired of existing without purpose, a ghost in his own life.
Tired of the mental cage he’s built, Jinko is forced to confront the impossible choice: To live as a solitary ghost, or to risk everything to find someone—or something—that can validate his existence. His journey to figure out who he is must begin before the rot he feels inside consumes him entirely.
I feel like a lot of people suffer from the phenomenon "I'm not alone, but I still feel lonely!" And they don't really have many characters to relate to as you often would want to with this kind of thing. So for those people I hope you enjoy this!
