I have never related to a main character more than Ayame Tanaka. Most magical girl stories are all sparkles and saving the world, but Ayame is out here trying to balance a journalism internship, high school, and fighting monsters without her dad finding out? That is literally the definition of stress.

The way the story starts is classic but so funny. She saves Aichi (who is the sassiest talking puppy ever, by the way) and suddenly she is wearing a kimono and fighting giant rose monsters. I love how she doesn't instantly become a pro. She stumbles, she messes up her attacks, and she is constantly freaking out about being late for work. It feels so real. And can we talk about Chapter 4 - What Even is a Magical Girl Anyways?! The confusion she felt was exactly how I would react.

Things get super intense when her dad gets involved. Finding out he is basically a secret agent hunting magical creatures gave me major anxiety. The scene where he catches her and Shoko? My heart stopped. I was screaming at my screen! It added these huge stakes because it wasn't just about fighting the Covens; it was about her losing her family's trust.

The romance subplots were also giving me life. The whole thing with Kenichi at the dance in Chapter 28 was cute until Aichi crashed it in human form! I was not expecting the puppy to be a cute boy, but I am not complaining. The drama between trying to be a normal teenager and saving the world hit its peak in the final chapters. The "big finale" felt earned because we saw how much Ayame struggled to get there.

I cried a little at the end when she thought about erasing her memories. It showed just how heavy the burden was for her. If you want a story that is equal parts funny, stressful, and heartwarming, you need to read this. It is a total gem. 4.75/5, would definitely read again!
