Tsukishiro Arata, also known as Hoshino, is an up-and-coming host at a B-tier club in Kanzakichō who barely survives a supernatural encounter with a slit-mouthed woman. Rescued by an on-duty exorcist, it’s discovered that Arata can consciously manifest and control mana—proof that he has what it takes to become a mage, an exorcist.

Thus, he’s “encouraged” to join a special branch of the local police force tasked with handling supernatural threats as part of the nation’s ongoing effort to reclaim land from local deities and malevolent spirits.
