Synopsis

Alan drifts through the remnants of his former life, unpaid bills, dead-end jobs, a small apartment cluttered with the little traces of the past. Guilt eats at him and his memories splinter. In a bar Alan meets a woman, Evangeline, enigmatic, commanding attention without trying, seeming to understand the parts of him everyone else ignores.
The novel toggles between intimate flashbacks of protagonist's life and the uncertain present, where Alan’s perception may be failing. Evangeline promises absolution but leaves cryptic traces, a scratched photograph, that crumble Alan's mind, a man with a gun, medical files that contradict his memories. As reality buckles, Alan chases answers that might erase him. Was Emily’s death an accident, a secret, or his own doing refracted through grief? A literary psychological thriller, the book explores how memory and remorse shape identity, and how the search for absolution can become indistinguishable from self-deception.
