After a heated argument, 17-year-old Nozomi Seisaku and her best friend, Akari Takahara, fall down a mysterious hole into the world of Meraki. Saved by an unknown force, they arrive in Goldenreed, where they learn that Meraki is an afterlife that judges the quality of a person’s soul instead of their deeds. Those who’ve created “Masterpieces” get to live on in peace, while those who haven’t, are trapped in their corpses and end up mysteriously disappearing. Having never made one, Nozomi wants to escape back to the world of the living before the ‘culling’ begins. Akari however, is tired of the challenges the living world presents, and does not wish to return, having already made a Masterpiece before. With no one left to rely on, Nozomi meets a slime-like creature named Love, who claims he can save her if she helps him in return. Will Nozomi find a way to escape this new personal hell? Or will her own inferiority and personal ideas of “equality” lead her down a more sinister path?
