Souma Ikeda reads on the rooftop to disappear. Kotomi Ichishima writes there for the same reason. When reality starts misbehaving around them — signs that flip overnight, doors that plant themselves in hallways, objects they once swore were 'literally just there' — they do the only thing that comes naturally: they catalogue it.
Something is trying to get their attention. It has been for a while. And it's running out of patience.
Ichishima Kotomi's Abnormal Life is a three-act one-shot about two oddballs, the impossible things that find them, and why paying attention might be the most extraordinary thing a person can do.
This started as a title and a cover and became something I didn't expect. Souma and Kotomi are not meant to be heroes. They're just two kids who escape the world via school rooftop to be left alone, and the universe decides that's exactly the wrong thing to be.
Written for Honeyfeed's June 2026 Monthly Challenge. Atlas of Anomalies felt like it was already theirs.
